Position: Engineer 1 - MFG (Aerospace)

Job Summary

At NMG Aerospace, the Engineer 1 – MFG is accountable for developing, improving, and supporting all production processes associated with the launch, manufacture, and test of products in an assigned value stream or product line. Often works under the direction of a Process Engineer II or III.

Essential Job Functions
  • Provides technical support to assigned manufacturing areas (i.e., troubleshooting production issues).
  • Develops and programs equipment automation such as PLCs, data acquisition software, or similar manufacturing equipment control and automation systems.
  • Creates and maintains work instructions for product build (e.g., SOP, MI, etc).
  • Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing processes while maintaining compliance with design specifications.
  • Creates and maintains methods, BOMs, labor standards, in ERP system.
  • Actively participates in C.I., RCCA, PFMEA, and cost reductions/process improvements.
  • Reviews, approves, and implements product design and technical documentation changes related to manufacturing.
  • Selects, constructs (when appropriate), and validates tooling, fixtures, gauges, and equipment.
  • Works with product engineers and program managers to launch product from design to production.
  • Designs workflow/cell with focus on waste reduction and process improvement.
  • Serves as technical liaison between workforce, suppliers, customers, quality and design engineers regarding manufacturing issues.
  • Assists to maintain compliance with industry standards (AS-9100, NADCAP).
  • Analyzes manufacturing variances to identify key improvement areas.
Additional Duties
  • Supports supply chain and quality with supplier development activities as needed.
  • Supports resolution of supplier quality issues as required.
  • Supports customer/regulatory audits as necessary.
  • Supports customer complaints & concerns within a defined value stream.
  • Provides support for Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives company wide.
  • Other duties, reporting, special assignments, or projects as needed and assigned.
  • Remains current with, and completes all required training as assigned.
  • Adheres to Company Corporate EHS Policy and department, occupation, and task specific safety protocols, including PPE requirements.
Qualifications
  • 0–5 years manufacturing or engineering experience.
  • Hands‑on troubleshooting and problem solving including statistical analysis.
  • Working knowledge of CAD software and 3‑D printing.
  • Excellent technical, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Preferred qualifications:

    knowledge of manual and automated mechanical equipment for tooling, fixtures and testing; experience in lean manufacturing; knowledge of GD & T; CAD software; ERP (in particular BOM & method creation & support).
  • Must submit to and satisfactorily pass any pre‑employment screening required for employment with the Company.
  • Must take medical exams required by law, relevant to occupation, work environment, and industrial hygiene sampling results.
  • Depending on assignment, may be required to use stairs, remain upright and/or seated for prolonged time frames, intermittently reposition the body per various tasks performed, and use various tools and supplies.
  • May be required to perform manual lifting activities, not to exceed a 40‑lb lift performed by one individual.
Education
  • Four‑year degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or manufacturing) required OR 8–10 years of progressive manufacturing job responsibility in lieu of degree.
