Overview

In this role, you will lead the tooling and fixturing that ensures our cutting‑edge process technologies create quality products for our patients.
Responsibilities- Research, plan, design, verify, validate and develop mechanical and/or electromechanical devices and systems to support new technology and business development.
- Support implantable cardiac and neuromodulation manufacturing value streams at the Tempe Campus.
- Design mechanical, electromechanical, and mechatronic systems, subsystems, and tooling solutions to support complex medical‑device manufacturing operations.
- Perform design implementation, ordering, negotiation, and integration activities for daily‑use tooling.
- Assess component and assembly manufacturability needs, develop solutions, and ensure successful integration into the manufacturing environment by participating in Design for Reliability & Manufacturing (DRM) and Six Sigma processes.
- Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to manage results and outcomes.
- Perform risk/failure‑mode assessment, plan and conduct performance and safety testing, and ensure mitigations are in place for designs.
- Write engineering reports and create analytical presentations to document and communicate results.
- Lead technical teams, provide mentoring, and execute technical plans using Six Sigma methodologies.
- Define QMS approaches for design documentation and evaluate prototype concepts through selection and approval.
- Participate in verification and validation of designs and processes, and provide technical mentoring to less experienced engineers and technicians.
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with a minimum of 2 years, or PhD with no prior experience required.
- For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8C.F.R. §214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
- GD&T certification, DRM or DFSS Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Experience in the medical industry or FDA‑regulated industry.

Benefits & CompensationMedtronic offers competitive salaries, a flexible benefits package, and various incentive plans. Salary range for U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is $106,400–$159,600 (USD), plus short‑term incentive MIP. Benefits include health, dental, vision insurance;
