Senior Principal Test Engineer – Tempe, Arizona
We are seeking a Senior Principal Test Engineer who will lead the development, deployment, and sustainment of manufacturing test systems used across Medtronic’s global production sites. The role requires 10+ years’ experience in the discipline and will work onsite in Tempe, Arizona, with up to 10% travel.
Responsibilities- Provide technical leadership as the subject matter expert for manufacturing test systems across programs and global manufacturing sites.
- Define test system architecture, standards, and strategies aligned with manufacturing and technology roadmaps.
- Lead the test system validation and deployment of manufacturing test solutions, integrating hardware, software, instrumentation, and automation.
- Collaborate with R&D, Test Development, and Automation Engineering to ensure product testability and scalable manufacturing solutions.
- Oversee verification, validation, and compliance activities, including test system qualification, MSA, and audit‑ready documentation.
- Drive deployment and technology transfer of test systems to global manufacturing sites, including ramp‑up and hyper care support.
- 10+ years experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 8+ years experience with an advanced degree.
- Recognized expert in the discipline with strong autonomy and ability to drive initiatives independently.
- Solid knowledge of automation technologies applied to manufacturing test systems.
- Strong project management skills with proven execution against milestones and commitments.
- Ability to influence product, process, and operational design aligned with business strategy.
- Strong problem‑solving capability to address complex, cross‑functional technical challenges and improve systems and processes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including interaction with senior leadership and external partners.
- Ability to lead cross‑functional initiatives and drive alignment across teams.
- Experience mentoring, coaching, and developing other engineers.
