Pay Grade: 113

Annual Salary Range: $71,800 - $105,900

The successful candidate's placement in the salary range will depend upon previous experience in a similar role.

DESCRIPTION / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

This position conducts sample preparation and analysis of environmental water and wastewater samples. Prepares and reviews data to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Duties include, but are not limited to the following

* Analyze environmental samples and enter data into the laboratory information management system database for process control and regulatory compliance.

* Perform chemical and biological sample preparation on environmental water, wastewater and stormwater samples.

* Prepare standards, solutions and reagents.

* Prepare reports and documents for use by supervisor and manager.

* Review, write and revise methods, Standard Operating Procedures and laboratory manuals

* Implement new protocols and procedures, and update existing standards based on current requirements and regulations.

* Conduct research and implement development of new analytical methods.

* Participate in audits, provide information and analyze proficiency evaluation samples.

* Troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance on analytical instruments and equipment.

* Assist with emergencies by performing analysis and reporting results.

* May perform responsibilities of a similar nature and level as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Experience:

Two (2) years of experience in environmental laboratory analysis or related experience.

Candidates must have the minimum amount of work experience. Years of experience are based upon a full-time work schedule (2,080 hours per year). The sum of an applicant's full-time and/or part-time qualifying work experience must meet or exceed the stated minimum qualification. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related field.

Professional Licensure and/or

Certifications:

Valid Driver's License
