VDC Engineer Electrical - Industrial Power Solutions
This role is perfect for an individual with 1 to 5 years experience in VDC & BIM.
About the RoleIndustrial Power Solutions is seeking a VDC Engineer to produce high quality constructible electrical shop drawings. This role is focused on construction driven electrical VDC not design engineering architectural BIM or clash only coordination.
You will create drawing packages that are field installable and move efficiently through AE review and approval cycles.
Key Responsibilities- Shop Drawing Production
- Develop electrical shop drawings including underground conduit layouts, above ground conduit routing, and ductbank plans
- Equipment layouts and required sections, elevations, and details
- Translate construction documents into clear, accurate constructible drawings for field installation
- Model conduit systems and equipment in Revit to validate routing support coordination and extract information for production.
- Use AutoCAD for details and hybrid workflows as needed.
- Use the model as a tool to deliver clean 2D drawings and schedules.
- Create and maintain equipment and conduit schedules.
- Ensure alignment with one‑line diagrams and P&IDs.
- Prepare submittal packages for AE review.
- Track comments and incorporate revisions.
- Maintain Approved for Construction (AFC) documentation.
- Identify conflicts and unclear information.
- Develop RFIs with supporting exhibits.
- Provide field support and clarify installation intent.
- Incorporate approved field changes into updated drawings.
- Perform thorough self‑checks before submission.
- Ensure consistency with contract documents and company standards.
- 5 to 7 years of experience in VDC drafting or construction documentation.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PDF markup tools.
- Strong understanding of conduit routing and electrical equipment layout.
- Ability to work independently, manage assigned scopes, and communicate clearly.
- Experience with industrial electrical or infrastructure projects.
- Background in underground conduit and ductbank coordination.
- Familiarity with submittal and approval workflows and construction sequencing.
- Produces accurate low‑revision shop drawing packages.
- Proactively identifies and resolves coordination issues.
- Supports project managers and field teams effectively.
- Maintains high quality documentation with minimal supervision.
