Your impactJacobs is seeking a senior‑level Area Mining & Heavy Industry Lead to provide regional leadership across operations, client management, and sales. While mining is a key market, this role is intentionally designed to support a broad heavy‑industry portfolio including mining, aerospace and manufacturing, allowing us to capture opportunities and talent across adjacent industrial sectors. As the Area Mining & Heavy Industry Lead, you will be responsible for growing and leading Jacobs’ portfolio of work serving resource extraction, processing, and heavy industrial clients across Arizona and the broader Southwest.
Based in Phoenix, you will partner with operations, sales, and technical leadership to deliver complex multidisciplinary projects while expanding Jacobs’ presence across high‑value industrial markets. This role combines client relationship leadership, pursuit strategy, and operational oversight, and requires comfort operating at both the executive and project‑delivery levels. You will act as a trusted advisor to clients managing capital programs, environmental obligations, regulatory interfaces, and long‑term operational challenges.
- Serve as Client Manager or Executive Sponsor for strategically important clients across mining and heavy industry (e.g., metals, minerals, aerospace, industrial manufacturing, tech, energy, chemical processing)
- Lead development and execution of regional growth strategies that expand Jacobs’ footprint without being limited to a single sector
- Identify, qualify, and champion new opportunities, including integrated environmental, water, infrastructure, and advisory services
- Lead or support pursuits through client engagement, strategy development, and proposal execution
- Build long‑term relationships with client executive teams, site leadership, and corporate decision‑makers
- Actively represent Jacobs in relevant industrial and professional organizations
- Provide senior oversight for complex industrial and mining projects to ensure safe, high‑quality, and profitable delivery
- Support project planning, staffing, risk management, and execution across multi‑disciplinary teams
- Monitor performance related to safety, quality, schedule, and financial outcomes
- Partner with project managers and operations leaders to resolve issues and maintain client confidence
- Apply senior‑level technical and strategic judgment to projects involving environmental characterization, permitting, water management, remediation, operations support, and facility closure
- Support development of cross‑sector technical offerings applicable to both mining and other heavy industries
- Encourage collaboration across environmental, geotechnical, water, civil, and infrastructure practices
- Mentor senior and mid‑career professionals and support succession planning
- Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and development of key heavy‑industry and mining talent
- Champion Jacobs’ culture of safety, inclusion, technical excellence, and collaboration
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geosciences, Environmental Sciences, or a related field
- 15+ years of progressively responsible experience supporting mining and/or heavy industrial clients
- Demonstrated success combining operations leadership, client management, and sales or growth accountability
- Experience delivering projects across large, complex industrial systems (mines, process facilities, industrial sites, or similar)
- Proven ability to build trusted client relationships and lead pursuits that result in sustained growth
- Strong communication, leadership, and decision‑making skills
- Commitment to safety, ethics, and professional excellence
- Professional Engineer (PE), PG, or similar professional licensure
- Experience working across multiple heavy‑industry sectors, not solely mining
