Job Title: Mechanical Commissioning Engineer

Job Summary: The Mechanical Commissioning Engineer is responsible for overseeing the installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical/electrical/HVAC systems and equipment to ensure they are installed and operate according to design specifications, safety regulations, and industry standards. This role requires close collaboration with project managers, design engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality commissioning services on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities Commissioning Planning and Preparation- Develop and implement commissioning plans, schedules, and procedures for mechanical systems and equipment.
- Review design documents, specifications, and drawings to ensure a thorough understanding of the project requirements.
- Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and clients to establish commissioning requirements and timelines.
- Conduct on‑site inspections and testing of mechanical systems, including HVAC, piping, plumbing, and other related systems.
- Verify the installation of mechanical systems and equipment meets the design specifications and industry standards.
- Perform functional performance tests, including pressure testing, flow testing, and system balancing.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues or discrepancies identified during the commissioning process.
- Prepare detailed commissioning reports, including test results, inspection findings, and corrective actions taken.
- Maintain accurate records of all commissioning activities, including checklists, test reports, and system documentation.
- Provide feedback and recommendations to the design and construction teams to address any issues identified during commissioning.
- Ensure all commissioning activities are conducted in compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and project specifications.
- Participate in safety meetings and ensure that all team members follow safety protocols.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all commissioning‑related activities, providing regular updates to clients and project stakeholders.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and ensure their satisfaction with the commissioning process.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the development of best practices in commissioning.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, standards, and regulations related to mechanical commissioning.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 3‑5 years of experience in mechanical commissioning or a related role.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and piping.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and specifications.
- Experience with commissioning software and tools.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., ASHRAE, LEED, OSHA).
- Excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
This position may require working on construction sites with exposure to varying weather conditions. The role may involve lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces. Travel may be required depending on project location.
