ME Elecmetal is seeking an experienced Product Design Leader – Crushing Products & Solutions to lead our North American crusher wear parts design team. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing product design, reverse engineering, product development, and engineering execution for our Crushing Solutions product line. The successful candidate will lead designers, drafters, and external engineering resources while driving innovation in crusher wear parts through advanced CAD modeling, scanning technologies, and data-driven product development.
This position serves as a critical link between customer requirements, product strategy, and engineering execution. Working closely with customers, product managers, account managers, and cross-functional engineering teams, you will develop customized solutions that improve crusher performance, optimize maintenance cycles, reduce downtime, and enhance productivity in mining and aggregate operations.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of designers, drafters, and external engineering resources.
- Manage engineering priorities, project schedules, and resource allocation to ensure timely project completion.
- Ensure compliance with design management processes, engineering change order (ECO) procedures, drawing standards, design manuals, and quality requirements.
- Coordinate and lead cross-functional design reviews and engineering collaboration efforts.
- Manage engineering software licensing and support design system administration.
- Partner with customers, product managers, and account managers to understand operational requirements and develop customized crushing solutions.
- Lead crusher chamber optimization projects through innovative wear-part design and performance analysis.
- Collaborate with regional teams to collect, evaluate, and leverage field data for targeted product development initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation in crusher wear part design, performance, and reliability.
- Share technical expertise and best practices across the organization to support crusher optimization efforts.
- Lead the design and reverse engineering of crusher wear parts and related crushing equipment components.
- Create and review advanced 3D CAD models and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings.
- Utilize data-driven analysis to improve wear-part geometry, material selection, and product performance.
- Evaluate operational and maintenance data to identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
- Conduct customer and mine site visits to evaluate equipment performance and gather operational insights.
- Translate customer requirements into technical specifications and engineered solutions.
- Support product development, validation, testing, and commercialization initiatives.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of mechanical design experience.
- Proven experience leading engineering, design, or drafting teams.
- Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault Professional.
- Strong experience with CAD and Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
- Expert knowledge of ASME Y14.5 standards and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
