Salary Range$67,000 - $70,000 per year; depending on experience
Job DescriptionASU’s Environmental Health and Safety is looking to hire an experienced Safety Partner to monitor the workplace environment and investigate safety concerns and/or accidents. This position provides assistance in monitoring activities to ensure the health and safety of the university community.
Applicant must be eligible to work in the United States; ASU Environmental Health and Safety will not be a sponsor for this position.
Essential Duties- Participates in site visits to audit, provide consultation and/or conduct inspections of university facilities to ensure compliance with federal, state, local regulations, codes, and university requirements.
- Experience with the following: developing, implementing and managing safety programs with hot work, control of hazardous energy, confined space, aerial lifts, forklifts, fall protection and hearing conservation.
- Consults with faculty, staff, students and others to provide technical and problem solving systems for hazardous materials.
- Participates in project teams conducting special studies and recommends solutions or alternatives.
- Proven ability to interpret EHS data and regulatory standards.
- Prepares data and drafts reports required for tracking, decision-making and/or to satisfy compliance requirements.
- May communicate with customers on safety related matters.
- Assists with reviewing, interpreting and evaluating compliance activities and policies supporting safety and environmental compliance programs and assists with implementing changes as required to address deficiencies or carry out improvements.
- Must be able communicate successfully to train others and modify standard regulatory training courses.
- Operates specialized equipment to assess and measure gas/vapor levels, noise levels, IAQ parameters, mercury vapor levels and RF fields. Maintains inventory and storage management systems for hazardous materials.
- Coordinates, participates in and facilitates safety education, outreach, and workshops for faculty, staff, and students in the use of department data management and processing tools.
- Trains staff to calibrate and maintain monitoring equipment and serves as a primary to ensure calibration and/or maintenance occurs as scheduled.
- May assist with creating and maintaining safety databases using various information systems or user-specific software.
- Assists in conducting accident and incident investigations and recommends corrective action or preventative measures.
- Works on a project team(s) to assist with the development or facilitation of high impact training materials and participates in logistics planning, communication and marketing.
- Assists with environmental programs to ensure federal, state and local regulatory requirements are met.
- Work with FDM and Contractors to address safety concerns.
- May serve as a member of the department emergency response team and participates in emergency drills and actual emergencies.
- Supports pollution prevention program and sustainability education programs.
- Ability to accomplish tasks in a fast-paced environment while meeting strict deadlines. Drives a university vehicle and possesses a valid AZ driver’s license.

Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician (OHST), Safety Trained Supervisor (STS), Certified Instructional Trainer (CIT) or similar…
