Phoenix National Laboratories in Tempe, AZ is seeking a Mechanical Laboratory Technician to test metals, plastics, rubbers, ceramics, and other materials, as well as support nondestructive testing and metallurgical services. This permanent role typically works 40‑50 hours per week. Local candidates and those willing to relocate to Tempe, AZ at their own expense are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities- Operate testing machines that determine physical properties and strength of materials
- Prepare test specimens
- Calculate material properties based on test results
- Determine acceptability of test results to job specifications
- Prepare reports
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and mathematical skills. A two‑ or four‑year Engineering Technology Degree or equivalent is preferred. Requires relocation to Tempe, AZ for non‑local candidates.

- Applicants must pass a drug screen and have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

- Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection.
- May be required to work from heights on scaffolding, ladders, elevated platforms, man-baskets, etc.
- May be required to work in confined spaces which will require crawling, stooping, climbing, etc.
- Work in and around operating equipment and industrial environments.
- Work with radiation and hazardous materials such as cleaners, penetrants, film developing chemicals, etc.
- Ability to lift and carry 100 pounds.
