Lead Project Engineer – Aerospace Actuation Systems
As a Lead Project Engineer – Aerospace Actuation Systems, you will play a key role in the development of next-generation electro‑mechanical actuation systems used on defense and advanced aircraft platforms. You will lead technical execution across the full product lifecycle-from requirements development and system design through validation, qualification, and production support—while also driving project performance, cost, schedule, and risk management.
This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys both solving complex technical challenges and leading cross‑functional teams to deliver successful program outcomes.
Responsibilities Technical Leadership- Lead the design, development, integration, and verification of electro‑mechanical actuation systems for aerospace applications.
- Translate customer and system requirements into technical solutions and engineering deliverables.
- Support system architecture, requirements management, design reviews, and technical trade studies.
- Develop and execute validation and verification activities, including development and qualification testing.
- Analyze test data, investigate failures, and lead root-cause and corrective action activities.
- Evaluate compliance with customer, industry, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop technical documentation including test plans, procedures, reports, and engineering assessments.
- Lead execution of engineering programs from concept development through production transition.
- Manage project cost, schedule, milestones, and technical performance.
- Utilize project management tools and processes to monitor progress and drive successful execution.
- Identify, assess, and manage technical, schedule, and program risks and opportunities.
- Coordinate cross‑functional activities with systems, mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams.
- Interface directly with customers and suppliers to communicate technical status, resolve issues, and build strong working relationships.
- Support proposal development, including technical planning, resource estimation, and schedule development.
- Work on flight-critical aerospace technologies that support advanced aircraft programs.
- Influence product development across the entire engineering lifecycle.
- Collaborate with highly skilled multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Balance deep technical problem-solving with project and program leadership responsibilities.
- Gain visibility with customers, business leaders, and engineering leadership while driving strategic aerospace initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 8+ years of engineering experience in product development, systems engineering, aerospace, defense, automotive, industrial automation, or related industries.
- Demonstrated experience leading technical projects, programs, or engineering work packages.
- Experience managing project deliverables, schedules, priorities, and cross‑functional teams.
- Experience communicating technical information to customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Experience with requirements development, system integration, verification, validation, testing, and technical problem-solving.
- Experience with aerospace actuation systems, flight control systems, or electro‑mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies, cost management, schedule management, and risk management.
- Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS).
- Validation & Verification (V&V) or qualification testing experience.
- Manufacturing, production support, or design for manufacturability experience.
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Strong systems‑thinking and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to influence and lead within a matrixed engineering environment.
