Telecommunications Systems Engineer

We are seeking a Telecommunications Systems Engineer who thrives on designing complex, high-performance communication systems that support mission-critical environments. In this role, you won't just draft drawings — you'll own telecom scopes on large, multi-disciplinary projects, working alongside architects and engineering leaders to deliver fully coordinated, high-impact design solutions. If you enjoy structured cabling, backbone systems, OSP design, BIM coordination, and leading technical teams — this is your opportunity to take ownership and make a measurable impact.

What You'll Do

  • Lead telecommunications design packages for large, complex, multi-building projects
  • Collaborate with architects and multi-discipline engineering teams
  • Interface directly with clients to understand operational needs and translate them into technical solutions
  • Design systems including:
    • Outside Plant (OSP) infrastructure
    • Inter- and intra-building backbone distribution
    • Structured cabling systems
    • Communication room layouts
    • Rack elevations
    • Wired & wireless device plans
    • Cable schedules
  • Develop coordinated 3D BIM models using AutoCAD, Smart Plant, and Revit MEP
  • Prepare construction specifications and 2D deliverables
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • NFPA 70 (NEC)
    • TIA standards
    • Industry best practices
    • Client-specific requirements
  • Support startup, commissioning, and construction coordination
  • Estimate and schedule telecom design efforts for multi-phase projects

Required Qualifications:

  • Two-year technical degree or four-year degree
  • 5+ years of telecommunications design experience
  • Strong structured cabling design background
  • Knowledge and application of:
    • TIA standards
    • BICSI design practices
    • NFPA 70 (NEC)
  • Experience leading telecom design teams
  • Experience editing construction specifications
  • Experience with startup and commissioning
  • Experience estimating and scheduling design efforts
  • Proficiency with:
    • Bluebeam
    • Navisworks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • BICSI RCDD credential
  • Project management experience
  • Working knowledge of Revit
  • 4+ years of telecom design experience in semiconductor or advanced manufacturing environments
  • Experience with:
    • Emergency Responder Radio Coverage Systems (ERRCS)
    • Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS)
    • Quality assurance review of telecom systems
  • Additional certifications:
    • BICSI OSP
    • BICSI RTPM
