Summary:

Mechanical Laboratory Technician - Tempe, AZ. Phoenix National Labs in Tempe, AZ is seeking a Mechanical Laboratory Technician to test metals, plastics, rubbers, ceramics and other materials as well as support nondestructive testing and metallurgical services. This is a permanent job typically working 40-50 hours per week. Local candidates and those willing to relo to Tempe, AZ, at their own expense encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities/Duties:

Operating testing machines that determine physical properties and strength of materials

Prepare test specimens

Calculate material properties based on test results

Determine acceptability of test results to job specifications

Prepare reports

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and mathematical skills. A two- or four-year Engineering Technology Degree or equivalent is preferred. Requires relo to Tempe, AZ for non-local candidates.

Work Conditions:

Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection.

May be required to work from heights on scaffolding, ladders, elevated platforms, man‑baskets, etc.

May be required to work in confined spaces which will require crawling, stooping, climbing, etc.

Work in and around operating equipment and industrial environments.

Work with radiation and hazardous materials such as cleaners, penetrants, film developing chemicals, etc.

Ability to lift and carry 100 pounds.
