10 is currently seeking a Product Design Engineer for a hybrid position with a Global Medical Technology Company located in Tempe, AZ. This is a 9+ month contract opportunity.
This is an individual contributor role focused on designing, developing, and validating new medical device products. The position involves translating user needs into functional requirements, creating designs using CAD/CAE systems, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize for manufacturability. This role requires at least three days on site in Tempe.
Responsibilities:
- Research, design, develop, modify, and verify components and systems for medical devices
- Translate user needs to design inputs/specifications and produce system-level designs
- Develop and analyze solutions, prototyping one or more options to provide proof of concept
- Apply fundamental and advanced concepts for problem solving, including root cause analysis
- Develop bench testing methods, conduct measurement system analysis, and develop DOE
- Create and refine engineering documentation, such as the Design History file
- Follow R&D procedures like design controls and risk management per the Quality Management System
- Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing and Project Management teams
Requirements:
- University degree or an extensive amount of practical knowledge gained through experience
- Ability to utilize CAD (Computer Aided Design) or CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) systems to model new designs and produce detailed engineering drawings
- Fundamental knowledge and understanding of engineering practices, tools, and design principles within a regulated environment
- Understanding of how design decisions impact production metrics (COGS, yield, etc.)
- Ability to make judgements based on practice and previous experience
- Demonstrate advanced understanding of customer needs and design inputs
Desired skills:
- Vascular device engineering experience
- Technical ability to develop and optimize designs for medical device assemblies, incorporating DFM principles
- Technical knowledge in creating product test fixtures and developing test methods for verification and validation activities
- Ability to communicate technical information to team members and project managers
- Demonstrated ability to influence and drive results through others
Pay range: $43.53 - $53.53 per hour
