Senior Principal Process Engineer for Dip Molding Centers of Excellence (CoE) Strategy Lead

The Senior Principal Process Engineer for Dip Molding Centers of Excellence (CoE) Strategy Lead is part of the enterprise manufacturing technology organization and provides technical and strategic leadership for dip molding technologies across Medtronic manufacturing sites. The team is responsible for advancing manufacturing capabilities, establishing technology standards, developing long-term roadmaps, and supporting the deployment of innovative processes and equipment that enable scalable, high-quality production.

The position is preferred to be based at the Medtronic facility in Dexter, Michigan or another U.S. Medtronic site with the ability to travel to Dexter as needed. Additional Medtronic locations that would be considered:

This role follows an onsite work model (4 days on-site, 1 day remote) and requires up to 25% travel to support collaboration, technology development, and manufacturing site engagement.

In this role, you will lead the enterprise strategy, capability development, and technology advancement for dip molding manufacturing processes. You will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders across Research and Development (R&D), Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and manufacturing sites to identify technology opportunities, establish standards, and accelerate the adoption of new manufacturing capabilities across the organization.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead the Dip Molding Center of Excellence and establish enterprise-wide manufacturing technology strategies, capability plans, and multi-year technology roadmaps.
  • Partner with Operating Units, Research and Development (R&D), Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to align manufacturing technology investments with current and future business needs.
  • Define and maintain standards for dip molding equipment, tooling, materials, automation, process controls, and quality systems across manufacturing sites.
  • Provide technical leadership to manufacturing operations through process optimization, yield improvement, defect reduction, equipment enhancements, and capability expansion initiatives.
  • Collaborate with product development teams to ensure manufacturing processes, materials, and equipment solutions support product requirements and commercialization objectives.
  • Evaluate emerging dip molding technologies through partnerships with suppliers, academic institutions, and industry organizations, and prioritize opportunities for development and adoption.
  • Lead feasibility assessments, proof-of-concept activities, and technology readiness efforts to accelerate innovation and deployment into manufacturing operations.
  • Drive implementation of new manufacturing technologies and ensure alignment with regulatory, quality, and operational requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience developing and implementing manufacturing technologies within regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives involving manufacturing, product development, quality, and operations stakeholders.
  • Experience establishing manufacturing standards, processes, or technology strategies across multiple products, sites, or business units.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous Medtronic experience.
  • Experience with dip molding technologies, including polymer formulation, viscosity management, mandrel tooling design, thermal process optimization, dip kinetics control, and inspection methodologies.
  • Experience supporting manual, semi-automated, and fully automated dip molding manufacturing environments, including process validation, technology scale-up, and deployment into production.
  • Experience developing and executing 5-10 year manufacturing technology roadmaps and collaborating with global teams.
  • Experience influencing stakeholders and driving alignment across organizations without direct reporting authority.
