OpportunityOverview
The Financial Crimes Leader plays a critical role in guiding a team of investigators responsible for detecting and preventing financial crime across multiple regulatory environments. This leader provides subject matter expertise, sets operational direction, and ensures the team delivers high‑quality, risk‑based investigative outcomes aligned with BSA/AML and Sanctions expectations.
Serving as the primary escalation point for complex or non‑routine matters, the Financial Crimes Leader applies strong judgment, removes barriers, and creates the conditions for investigators to perform thorough, accurate, and timely work. Success in this role requires both technical depth and the ability to coach, develop, and inspire a team in a high‑stakes regulatory environment.
What You Will Do- Lead daily operations for a specialized team of Financial Crimes investigators across the U.S. and Canada, ensuring consistent execution of AML, Sanctions, Client Due Diligence, and/or Fraud processes.
- Serve as a subject matter expert
, maintaining current regulatory and industry knowledge and applying it within Edward Jones’ policies, procedures, and business model. - Develop and maintain documented procedures
, ensuring alignment with BSA/AML and Sanctions compliance requirements and enterprise standards. - Train, coach, and develop a team of up to 15 investigators
, providing ongoing feedback and guidance on performance, casework quality, and complex escalations. - Execute oversight controls and review operational reports, dashboards, and quality results to ensure adherence to timeliness, accuracy, and program expectations.
- Oversee the investigation and timely filing of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs), along with the handling of OFAC‑blocked or rejected transactions.
- Support internal audits, risk assessments, and regulatory examinations
, ensuring documentation and processes are prepared, accurate, and compliant. - Take appropriate follow‑up action
, including escalations, coaching, training, or process adjustments, to mitigate risk and drive continuous improvement.
What you need:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience
- Certified Anti-Money Laundering/Certified Global Sanctions Specialist or other Sanctions specific designation is preferred
