Student Finance Analyst 2 – Full time – $50,000 per year

Job Profile Summary

Provides guidance and support to students on intermediate to complex student financial operations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, international and university policies.

Job Description

Assists with special project coordination of federal, state, or institutional programs by reviewing, analyzing, determining eligibility, and awarding for various financial aid programs. Coordinates activities and functions within Financial Aid and Scholarship Services to meet program goals, timelines, and specifications. Prepares and processes student financial aid files in accordance with regulations and guidelines for determining eligibility, awarding, and reconciliation.

Essential Duties
  • Work closely with Student Success Leadership to plan, direct, organize, and execute project requirements.
  • Perform complex, specialized work supporting financial aid operations—including processing, compliance, reporting, reconciliation, and special projects.
  • Oversee senior management projects and independently execute strategic programs and assignments.
  • Provide technical advice, problem‑solving assistance, and policy interpretation to staff, students, and others.
  • Analyze and process financial data to determine aid eligibility and make awards within federal, donor, and institutional guidelines.
  • Request additional information and apply established regulations and procedures to resolve discrepancies.
  • Determine eligibility for federal, state, and institutional financial aid and resolve over awards or over payments.
  • Make adjustments for unusual or mitigating circumstances as exceptions to the prescribed process.
  • Determine appropriate cost of attendance and award aid to recipients.
  • Use information systems to input data, maintain databases, perform research, and generate reports.
  • Interact with external entities to facilitate the student eligibility process.
  • Notify students of changes in eligibility or awards and address their questions in person or writing.
  • Analyze system‑generated reports (grades, enrollment status, award status) to verify continued compliance.
  • Maintain secure access requirements for federal and state websites such as the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS).
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of government, donor, and institutional rules, regulations, guidelines, and procedures for awarding financial aid.
  • Understanding of the Student Aid Index (SAI) calculation and its impact on Title IV funding.
  • Knowledge of federal Title IV financial aid programs and supporting regulations.
  • Working knowledge of federal systems such as COD, CPS, and NSLDS.
  • Proficiency in automated processing.
  • Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
  • Advanced Excel, Google Sheets, and other tools to analyze large data sets.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Experience utilizing large language models (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) and other AI tools.
  • Knowledge of FERPA requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer software skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Customer‑service orientation with active listening, acknowledgment, and resolution of inquiries.
  • Ability to influence individual, institutional, and corporate behaviors toward sustainability initiatives.
  • Ability to lead by example and communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.

Working Environment

Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting. The job requires extended sitting, keyboarding, and computer mouse use, with frequent standing and walking. Infrequent bending, reaching, lifting, and pushing up to 25 lb. Requires rapid priority changes and conflict resolution.
