The Investment Risk Group partners closely with Investment Management teams to provide independent risk oversight across portfolios and investment processes. As an Investment Risk Analyst, you will contribute directly to the design, construction, and ongoing monitoring of advisory model portfolios, discretionary client accounts, mutual funds, and other investment strategies ensuring alignment with stated objectives, risk tolerances, and fiduciary standards.
Responsibilities:
- Support active investment risk research and portfolio construction analysis to ensure Advisory multi‑asset class models, Bridge Builder mutual funds, asset allocation models, and SMA equity portfolios align with stated investment objectives and the firm’s investment risk framework.
- Partner with Investment Risk Managers to provide independent risk oversight of portfolio construction, optimization, and ongoing risk monitoring across Advisory model portfolios, Bridge Builder mutual funds, strategic and tactical asset allocation models, and SMA equity portfolios.
- Contribute to the development, enhancement, and governance of portfolio optimization tools, methodologies, and post‑optimization review processes to ensure advisory client portfolios remain consistent with investment objectives, constraints, and risk parameters.
- Monitor and support the firm’s derivatives risk management program for Bridge Builder mutual funds and sub‑advisers in compliance with SEC Rule 18f‑4, including risk limit monitoring, reporting, and documentation.
- Perform in‑depth data analysis and design, maintain, and enhance investment risk dashboards, reports, and automated tools that enable effective portfolio oversight and informed decision‑making.
- Support derivatives and alternatives risk research and ongoing oversight for Private Wealth, Advisory research models, Bridge Builder mutual funds, sub‑advisers, and high net worth client portfolios, as applicable.
- Collaborate with Investment Risk Managers to develop and present portfolio construction research, risk analyses, and recommendations to governance committees and senior leadership for review and approval.
- Partner cross‑functionally with internal departments, committees, and firm‑wide initiatives to support well‑informed investment decisions aligned with the firm’s long‑term strategy and fiduciary responsibilities.
- Deliver clear, concise, and effective written and verbal communication of portfolio risk assessments, insights, and recommendations to investment teams and key stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 23 years of experience in portfolio construction, portfolio optimization, or investment risk management (or 35 years in investment management overall).
- Demonstrated expertise in portfolio construction principles, asset allocation, portfolio optimization, and risk‑adjusted decision‑making across multi‑asset investment strategies.
- 23 years of hands‑on experience with multi‑factor risk models, analytics frameworks, and optimization platforms such as Aladdin, MSCI, or Axioma.
- Strong understanding of investment risk measurement and evaluation across market, factor, liquidity, concentration, and structural risks.
- Advanced quantitative, analytical, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable risk insights.
- Proficiency with AI tools, spreadsheets, databases, programming languages, and institutional investment risk platforms (e.g., Microsoft Office, R, Python, Tableau, Fact Set, Bloomberg, Aladdin, MSCI, Axioma).
- FINRA Series 7 and Series 66 licenses required (or ability to obtain within six months); progress toward or completion of FRM or CFA designations strongly preferred.
