Pay range from $27.78/hr to $30.87/hr, depending on experience.

Summary of Responsibilities

Providing spontaneous service excellence to members, employees, and business associates; demonstrating Tru West’s values. The role involves collection follow-up on delinquent accounts, including locating members without a current address. Must have thorough knowledge of collection law, bankruptcy, and be able to handle difficult members. Knowledge of the credit union’s products and services is required to identify cross‑selling opportunities. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of collection experience, including use of an online collection system and experience with a predictive dialer.

Knowledge and

Skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities, ability to prioritize workload and work independently.
  • Flexibility to work non‑standard hours and make decisions within the scope of responsibility.
  • Intermediate computer skills with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct sound collection follow‑up on delinquent accounts; work all delinquent loans in the queue by phone each day.
  • Provide detailed documentation in the collection system explaining actions taken or promises made.
  • Follow credit union policies and comply with all laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, Security Policies, and Confidentiality Policies.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Analyze loans to determine when repossession of collateral is necessary and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Determine when legal action is necessary to protect the credit union’s assets and recommend actions to the Collections Manager.
  • Use all legal means to locate members who have moved without a forwarding address.
  • Assist branch and department staff when they call on a member with a collection flag or memo.
  • Review revolving lines of credit and recommend cancellation when appropriate.
  • Assist with the training of less experienced collectors.
