About the RoleThe Senior Tax Accountant is responsible for income tax compliance including supporting the federal, state, and local tax return processes. You will support tax planning and projects and report into the Associate Director, Tax.
Work LocationThis position is based in our Tempe, AZ office, requiring a hybrid work schedule with 3 days of in-office work per week. Thursdays are a required in-office day for team meetings and events, while your other two office days are flexible to suit your schedule.
Pay TransparencyThe base pay for this role is $87,188 - $114,434 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, participation in our unlimited vacation program, and annual performance bonuses.
Responsibilities- Prepare the U.S. federal, state, and local tax returns and estimates and payments for the corporate holding company and insurance subsidiaries.
- Prepare state nexus analysis.
- Prepare sales and use, and other indirect taxes.
- Maintain and adhere to the tax compliance calendar.
- Prepare monthly tax journal entries and quarterly tax reconciliations.
- Prepare financial data, analysis and modeling to support tax projects.
- Prepare audit and notice responses.
- Work with areas of Finance and the business to support other tax compliance and planning projects.
- Identify and implement process improvements.
- Help with the annual and quarterly GAAP and statutory tax provisions and forecast modeling.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 4+ years of tax experience in a public accounting firm or equivalent corporate tax department experience.
- Bachelor's degree preferably in Accounting or 4 years commensurate experience.
- CPA and/or Master's of Taxation.
- Experience with preparation of the corporate tax provision.
- Insurance industry experience.
- Knowledge of SSAP 101 tax reporting.
- Experience implementing tax provision software.
