Position Overview
The Shift Lead is responsible for performing the core duties of a CSC and/or veterinary assistant/technician while ensuring continuous leadership and operational support across all shifts. The role coordinates paraprofessional staff and partners with hospital leadership to maximize productivity, profitability, and client service.
Responsibilities- Perform veterinary-assisted tasks, promote hospital services, and recruit new clients.
- Manage client and pet flow to ensure exceptional care and maximum team productivity.
- Provide outstanding service, educate clients on wellness plans, and assist with documentation, prescriptions, and retail sales.
- Handle finances, maintain accurate balances, and follow opening/closing procedures.
- Assist veterinarians and technicians, monitor patient care, and maintain clinical safety and hygiene standards.
- Participate in surgeries as applicable and perform tasks within state practice acts.
- Lead a team: develop schedules, supervise, train, mentor, and build a positive culture.
- Resolve client issues, manage communication between associates and leadership, and enforce dress and grooming policies.
- Prepare surgical cases, assign responsibilities, triage treatment boards, and identify operational bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with field leadership and central support to address client resolutions and invoice adjustments.
- Conduct quality checks of records, medications, regulatory documentation, and inventory.
- Leadership: priority setting, direct others, conflict management, motivating others.

- Multi‑tasking and organizational ability in high‑pressure environments.

- Mathematical proficiency for financial and inventory tasks.

- Comfortable around all pets; may require >40 hours per week, including weekends and evenings.
- Moderately high noise level; ambulatory duties with ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to pets that may bite or scratch; occasional exposure to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, and medications.
- Associate’s degree or veterinary technician certification/license preferred.
- Minimum two years of related experience; six months at Banfield preferred.
- Prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Medical background and terminology training a plus.

Pay Range$17.57 – $22.45 per hour, based on experience, skill level, education, and location.
