The Trauma Healing Crisis Specialist will provide assessments and direct service counseling, individually and in group settings, to individuals and families who have been impacted by crimes, including, but not limited to, sexual assault, domestic violence, human trafficking, attempted homicide, stalking, etc. They will provide these services using trauma-informed interventions.
- Oversees and processes new referrals from local law enforcement agencies and other community partners to ensure that needs are met in a timely manner.
- Provides office-based intake assessment and crisis counseling to youth, adults, and families.
- Identifies victims’ personal advocacy, provisions and assistance needs, including appropriate internal and external referrals. Makes mandatory reports to appropriate authorities regarding child or vulnerable adult abuse or neglect.
- Coordinates communication with other departments in the agency for continuity of care. Collaborates with hotline staff, trauma advocates and therapists, as well as community agencies to provide risk assessment, crisis intervention, and psychoeducation about trauma symptomology, behavior management, stabilization and parenting training.
- Ensures quality service delivery including clinical care and all associated documentation and complies with the agency’s standard of care for service delivery. Assists with Quality Management and Utilization Review as assigned by management.
- Maintains all client records in accordance with agency policies and procedures. This includes appropriate phone documentation, intake documentation, endangerment triaging, treatment planning, referral triaging, risk planning, termination documentation, interagency reports, follow-up documentation and all necessary data collection.
- Provides and delivers an assigned on-call shift on a once-a-week basis. Follows the THS special projects procedures for overnight special project calls. Includes providing mobile crisis assessments, intervention services, and in-home support services to clients throughout Maricopa and surrounding counties. This position receives a differential in pay, as a result, which is specific to this position only. If one wishes to accept a different position in the agency, the differential would not follow.
- Provides instruction and training for interns, pool staff, and new staff as assigned by the Program Manager.
- Provides and delivers at least 40 hours of work per week. May be required to work beyond shift with no advanced warning if a crisis warrants.
- Participate in all regularly scheduled department meetings and weekly individual supervision meetings.
- Develops and maintains effective working relationships with all related state, community behavioral health, and contracting organizations.
- Participates in agency fund raising activities as requested by management.
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field required; OR Any combination education/experience that meets BHT requirements as stipulated by ADHS.
- Demonstrated ability to understand the needs of victims and their families, listen empathically, remain non-judgmental, and relate positively to all persons regardless of age, race, creed, gender or sexual orientation.
