Systems Engineer, Cybersecurity, IT Support, Cloud Computing
Overview
Data Center Operations and Infrastructure Engineer. This role is ideal for a technically curious professional who enjoys keeping critical systems running smoothly while continuously improving how infrastructure is monitored, secured, and maintained. You will play a key part in supporting enterprise data center operations and wide area network environments that enable large scale, distributed business operations.
What You Will Do- You will provide advanced operational support for data center and network environments, responding to alerts, investigating issues, and ensuring systems remain reliable and secure. Acting as a trusted second tier resource, you will support servers, backups, and connectivity across both on premises and cloud platforms.
- As a primary administrator for monitoring and management platforms, you will configure, maintain, and continuously refine tools used to observe server health, network performance, and backup success. You will participate in scheduled maintenance activities, including routine patching as well as urgent remediation for security or vulnerability events.
- You will serve as a technical generalist, handling a wide range of server and networking issues of low to moderate complexity. This includes troubleshooting connectivity problems, analyzing system alerts, and resolving incidents using established knowledge bases while also contributing improvements back into documentation.
- A significant part of the role involves designing, documenting, and maintaining procedures for network equipment at distributed sites. This includes configuring routers and wireless access points, managing DHCP scopes, implementing security controls, and administering secure tunneling solutions.
- You will take an active role in improving operational efficiency by identifying opportunities for automation. Examples include streamlining site connectivity deployments, standardizing configuration updates, and reducing manual effort through scripting and repeatable processes.
- You will also oversee the lifecycle of infrastructure hardware, including managing inventories of broadband and wireless devices, preparing equipment for deployment, coordinating shipping to field locations, and guiding less experienced team members through documented processes.
- Vendor coordination is another key responsibility. You will work directly with external partners to order equipment, schedule installations, and support ongoing servicing of data center systems. You will also manage server refresh initiatives and oversee proper decommissioning of retired systems.
You will specialize in one or more monitoring, management, or backup platforms commonly used in enterprise environments, such as infrastructure monitoring suites and modern data protection technologies. You will be responsible for establishing naming conventions, standardized configurations, and best practices for the systems under your care.
What You Bring- You have hands on experience supporting servers, backups, and basic networking concepts, with a strong interest in infrastructure reliability and operational excellence. Familiarity with Power Shell is required, and the ability to use it confidently to automate or streamline tasks is highly valued.
- You bring one to three years of experience in at least one technical focus area, such as server administration, backup operations, patch management, or networking. An associate degree in computer information systems or equivalent professional experience is required, while a bachelor degree or comparable experience is preferred.
This role supports environments that operate beyond standard business hours. Flexibility is required to participate in rotating coverage that may include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Participation in a rotating on call schedule is also required during periods when on site operations are not staffed.
If you enjoy working at the intersection of servers, networks, and automation, and you want to contribute to the reliability of large scale enterprise systems, this role offers the opportunity to grow your skills while making a meaningful operational impact.
