The Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for managing data retrieval and analysis within the organization. The role provisions, mines and organizes data, and partners closely with operations, business units and IT to understand business needs. The analyst transforms data into actionable insights and solutions that address organizational challenges, drive operational efficiency, support strategic decision‑making and deliver measurable business value. As a key contributor to a data‑driven culture, the analyst leverages advanced analytics and business intelligence to influence business strategy, foster innovation, and deliver measurable impact across the organization.
Responsibilities- Partners with Operations business units to understand requirements, business challenges and processes improvement opportunities, translating these into actionable data and analytic solutions.
- Lead and manage end-to-end data and analytic projects, ensuring alignment with operational goals and timely delivery of impactful results.
- Provision, mine, and transform data to support business operations, advanced analytics and reporting needs.
- Serves as a SME in high-level discussions on current and future data requirements, providing recommendations on how analytics can best support key operational and business functions.
- Design, implement and maintain ETL jobs, data pipelines and SQL databases to ensure reliable and timely access to business‑critical data (as needed).
- Develop, manage, and continuously enhance business intelligence solutions, including dashboards and reports using Power BI and/or Tableau to empower business and operations leaders with real‑time insights.
- Mentor junior level analysts and guide team members in best practices for data analysis, reporting and business engagement.
- Present clear, actionable findings and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders across Operations, tailoring communication to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Designs, builds and maintains SQL databases and queries, as needed.
- Collaborates cross‑functionally to collect data, provide business context and ensure analytics initiatives are aligned with organizational objectives.
- Create and maintain thorough documentation, including design specifications, requirements, and user guides to support operational adoption and knowledge transfer.
- Identify and recommend opportunities to streamline processes, improve operational workflows, and drive efficiency and profitability through data‑driven insights.
- Ensure all analytics activities adhere to data governance, quality standards and compliance requirements, maintaining the highest ethical and operational standards.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics or a related field (master’s degree is a plus).
- 8+ years of relevant experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or a related field, with at least 2 years supporting operations or business units in financial services (mortgage lending preferred).
- Ability to develop knowledge and present the broader context in which the work is being performed.
- Expert level proficiency in SQL, data modeling, ETL development, and managing data pipelines.
- Must have working knowledge of data elements across the enterprise and industry – definitions, lineage and usage.
- Proficient in BI and analytics tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and Databricks (for data processing and advanced analytics).
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable business insights.
