Position Summary

The Senior Manager, Software Engineering will manage and mentor a team of highly motivated software developers and administrators. This role provides architecture oversight and operational support guidance for custom and business‑critical platforms across the enterprise. The team focuses on delivering high‑quality, on‑time software releases using agile and Dev Ops practices, while enabling application operations through infrastructure solutioning, continuous delivery & integration, and efficient system sustainment planning.

The Senior Manager leads technical design, development, delivery, and operation of applications, manages agile work‑streams, coordinates priorities across business lines, and builds strong relationships with development, infrastructure, customer support, property management, and central operations teams. The role balances leadership, process improvement, and hands‑on coding and contributes to product planning, feature prioritization, and execution across the product lifecycle.

Essential Functions
  • Manage development teams working on internal and customer‑facing applications and collaborate with infrastructure and cloud platform teams.
  • Understand agile software development and its impact on operations; participate in strategy discussions with management and business sponsors.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a highly passionate development team.
  • Define product vision, strategy, and roadmap for capacity planning.
  • Ensure alignment with company strategy and goals.
  • Set direct‑report goals, engage enterprise stakeholders, and conduct yearly performance reviews.
  • Plan, prioritize, and execute product features for the entire lifecycle.
  • Implement test‑and‑learn frameworks to continuously improve product capabilities from MVP to national rollout.
  • Facilitate customer research to gain empathy and insight into user journeys.
  • Coordinate resources and define product requirements with key stakeholders.
  • Review existing processes, analyze effectiveness and efficiency, and develop optimization strategies.
  • Develop training and communicate organizational changes to stakeholders.
  • Track KPIs and use data‑driven decisions to identify opportunities and measure performance.
  • Serve as platform expert to ensure benefits for field users.
  • Lead technical design and implementation for platform applications such as Salesforce.
  • Support testing, deployment cycles, user acceptance testing, and pre‑release feedback.
  • Log, track, and manage issues, bugs, and enhancement requests in JIRA.
  • Participate in release and post‑release activities, including proof‑of‑concept design.
  • Oversee systems administration, maintenance, and support functions.
  • Identify, mitigate, and manage risks and issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain development standards and consistency of specifications across subsystems.
  • Write and review deliverables, solution blueprints, and architecture documentation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 7+ years overall experience in software development.
  • 2+ years of management experience overseeing production development teams in an operational environment.
  • Experience resourcing, staffing, and delivering technical solutions within a budget.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
  • ITIL understanding and familiarity with modern application architecture design patterns.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with ability to handle escalated or tense situations.
  • Experience deploying and managing Salesforce Platform is a strong plus.
  • Experience with the entire software development lifecycle (Agile, SDLC, iterative).
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Flexibility and a positive attitude to meet tight deadlines.
  • Detail‑oriented documentation skills.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts clearly to non‑technical decision‑makers.
  • Rapidly adapt to changes in environment and priorities.
  • Collaborate with a complex stakeholder group across geographical boundaries.
  • Work creatively, propose ideas, and contribute to working groups.
