Information Technology Services at MCCCD seeks a Cybersecurity Engineer to elevate our security posture and protect mission‑critical systems. Reporting to the Director of Security Operations, you will drive security innovation across enterprise, cloud, and hybrid environments. You will lead proactive threat hunting, rapid incident response, and deep forensic investigations, and shape future‑proof architectures in AWS, Azure, and GCP.
Essential Functions20% - Security Technology Management
- Design, configure, deploy, and maintain enterprise security technologies, including next‑generation firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection platforms (EDR/XDR), SIEM/SOAR solutions, and vulnerability management tools. Continuously optimize detection and prevention capabilities.
20% - Infrastructure Security Collaboration
- Partner with network, systems, and cloud teams to implement secure configurations and hardening across on‑premises and cloud infrastructure; enforce security best practices and compliance standards.
15% - Cybersecurity Leadership & Project Execution
- Lead, plan, and execute enterprise‑wide cybersecurity projects focused on protecting critical assets, reducing risk, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor to executive leadership.
15% - Vulnerability Management & Remediation
- Conduct vulnerability scans, review and analyze results, track remediation progress, prioritize risks, and coordinate mitigation with IT staff and application owners.
15% - Threat Monitoring & Incident Response
- Identify and triage threats by monitoring SIEM dashboards and responding to security alerts; conduct initial investigations, escalate incidents, and provide documented findings and remediation recommendations.
10% - Security Architecture & Vendor Coordination
- Manage cross‑functional teams, assess vendor security postures, and implement enterprise security controls aligned with industry frameworks and best practices.
5% - Administrative Responsibilities
- Participate in district‑wide committees and internal meetings; perform related duties as assigned.
- BA in information technology, information security, computer science, or related field with 5 years of technical experience in supporting networks, systems, and technology security.
- OR BA in a related field with 2 years of experience planning and overseeing IT initiatives such as data security, systems development, or network design.
- OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or certifications sufficient to perform the essential duties. Technical certifications may be used to substitute education or experience.
