Job SummaryWe are seeking a Systems Administrator for our Tempe, AZ location. The Systems Administrator is responsible for supporting, troubleshooting, and maintaining the company’s computer servers and networks. A minimum of 4‑5 years of experience in server‑domain system management supporting 200+ users and a bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology (preferred) are required. The role reports to the IT Manager.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Work on helpdesk tickets and provide quality customer service to staff and clients.
- Design, install, configure, and test Microsoft Windows Server operating systems and all roles/features.
- Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade Windows server OSs and applications; recognize and troubleshoot problems with server hardware and application software.
- Create and maintain VMware hosts and guest operating systems; manage vCenter appliance.
- Diagnose, recognize, and troubleshoot problems with server hardware and application software.
- Maintain and test backups following the 3‑2‑1 rule.
- Maintain intranet site using most recent technologies.
- Administer computer networks and related computing environments, including hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
- Experience with Autodesk CAD programs.
- Experience with Power Apps and Power BI.
- Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations and determine hardware or software requirements.
- Maintain logs related to network functions, maintenance, and repair records.
- Research new technology and implement or recommend its implementation.
- Establish and document standards and procedures, maintain inventory of technological devices, work with outside vendors, and maintain backup systems.
- Coordinate with other schedules; may require work after normal business hours.
- Physical activity may be required based on business layout.
- Perform network analysis and troubleshooting.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology from an accredited institution (preferred).
- Minimum 4 years of experience in server‑domain system management supporting 200+ users (5 years preferred).
- Experience with scripting or computer development/programming (desired).
- Microsoft Certifications (preferred).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to organize and conduct special programs for the IT Department.
- Experience with VMware (required).
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Professional manner and appearance while representing UMEC.
- Ability to prioritize in a fast‑paced, multitask environment.
- Basic business mathematical functions.
- Work independently with minimal supervision or in groups.
- Manage time and details effectively.
- Interpret a variety of instructions.
- Organize and archive technical data.
- Compliance with all operating policies, procedures, plans, and programs.
Effective communication in English; collaborate with multiple levels of customers, employees, unions, government agencies, vendors and suppliers, and contractor organizations.
Physical DemandsRegularly required to sit, see, talk, and hear; use hands to handle objects; walk and reach; use vision for close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, focus adjustments; commute to construction job sites and navigate around them; handle mechanical and electrical parts; work outdoors; potential exposure to wet/humid conditions, dust, fumes, chemicals, extreme temperatures, electrical shock, vibration, and moderate to loud noise.
Work EnvironmentEmployees should expect to sit for long periods in front of a computer and may be required to travel to construction job sites as needed. Work may involve outdoor exposure, wet/humid conditions, dust, fumes, chemicals, weather extremes, heat/cold, electrical shock risk, vibration, and moderate to loud noise.
