Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to lead the evolution of our IT environment into a cloud-first, scalable, and secure architecture. This role is heavily centered on Microsoft Azure, Infrastructure-as-Code, automation, and modern identity and endpoint management. The ideal candidate thrives at the intersection of operations and engineering, applying best practices in cloud security, performance optimization, and platform scalability.
Responsibilities Cloud Architecture & Infrastructure- Design, deploy, and manage scalable infrastructure in Microsoft Azure.
- Build and maintain secure Azure Landing Zones using Policy and Blueprints.
- Administer core Azure services:
Azure AD, VNets, NSGs, storage accounts, and backups. - Monitor usage, optimize costs, and enforce governance policies.
- Implement IaC pipelines using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and updates using Azure Dev Ops, Git Hub Actions, or similar CI/CD tools.
- Create reusable scripts and modules using Power Shell and Azure CLI.
- Deploy and manage Microsoft Intune for MDM and MAM.
- Lead Windows Autopilot deployments for zero-touch device provisioning.
- Implement compliance policies, configuration profiles, and endpoint security (Bit Locker, Defender).
- Support legacy virtualization environments using VMware and Hyper-V as needed.
- Migrate on-prem workloads to Azure and support hybrid connectivity (VPN, Express Route).
- Apply zero-trust principles using Conditional Access, Azure AD, and RBAC.
- Implement proactive monitoring and alerting using Azure Monitor and third-party tools (e.g., Splunk, Darktrace).
- Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and remediation planning.
Education, Experience,
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, information systems, or relevant degree. In lieu of a degree relevant skills and certifications may be considered.
- 7+ years in infrastructure or systems engineering roles.
- 3+ years of deep, hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure.
- Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code and scripting (Power Shell, Bicep, Terraform).
- Experience with Microsoft Intune, Autopilot, and modern endpoint security.
- Strong grasp of cloud identity and access management.
- Regular, in-person attendance up to 5 days per week on campus/on site is an essential function of this position.
- This role requires on-site collaboration with students, faculty, and staff.
Preferred:
- Microsoft Certified:
Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) or higher. - VMware VCP certification.
- Experience with Remote Monitoring and Management systems.
- Familiarity with SIEM tools like Splunk, Darktrace, or Microsoft Sentinel.
- Strategic thinker with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced, high-visibility environments.
