About This PositionThis class is the fourth level in the Information Technology Management series. Senior Directors assist in the top management of information technology resources and oversee assigned major lines of information technology processes, programs, or activities forming information technology business units as assigned by the Chief Information Officer. Senior Directors apply advanced management principles with critical impact on technology and the organization.
Incumbents exercise strategic and visionary thinking having long‑term organization‑wide application and impact; develop and implement programs critical to health system; and exercise control and supervision of multiple assigned functions and significant resources comprising an IT service line critical to the organization and its customers. Responsibility may cross multiple functional units within the organization. Positions will usually have responsibility for program/project outcomes across multiple functions and/or processes as assigned.
Incumbents supervise staff including conducting performance evaluations, coordinating training, and implementing hiring, discipline and termination procedures. Incumbents oversee day‑to‑day operational management of all activities and functions in the respective assigned function(s)/unit(s)/program(s) including developing, implementing and evaluating policies, procedures and standards; determining service levels and enhancements; developing and monitoring budgets; providing technical advice and/or oversight to staff or other departments related to area of assignment;
evaluating information concerning needs; estimating and coordinating program/unit activities and associated costs; and tactical project execution activities.
- Maintains direct knowledge of current and future capabilities across the business and financial applications portfolio.
- Advises IT management and relevant steering committees regarding the direction of advanced business and financial systems and applications.
- Conducts research and publishes white papers and decision point documents for use in the department, end user communities, and governance committees.
- Develops roadmaps and long‑range plans for all applications in the business and financial applications portfolio.
- Maintains strong understanding of technology and its application to achieve clinical and business objectives.
- Prepares analysis and/or proposals when necessary.
- Provides strategic and operational leadership for lifecycle management, including selection, implementation, maintenance, upgrade, and enhancement of business and financial systems.
- Incorporates best practices to improve existing organizational methods and processes.
- Works closely with other IT leadership in developing short and long‑range plans, and reviews these plans with senior IT leadership as well as other organizational management.
- Ensures that the interaction and communication with key business and clinical leaders promotes full understanding of business and financial systems strategies and goals.
- Co‑manages effective governance and portfolio management of business and financial applications to ensure stakeholder engagement, consensus on prioritization, effective resource management, and functional accountability through all phases of business and financial application and product lifecycle.
- Establishes strategic alignment by linking IT strategy with business imperatives and a planning process that communicates effectively about costs, impacts, and reporting.
- Develops and monitors various metrics of IT systems effectiveness and efficiency including up‑time, overall performance and capabilities for disaster recovery.
Bachelor's degree in a work related field/discipline from an accredited college or university.
ExperienceTen (10) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities- Unique combination of operational expertise, business process management principles and strategic planning to drive operational effectiveness.
