A large enterprise technology organization is seeking a Senior Engineer to support tools and middleware serving business-critical applications. This hands-on role spans messaging, integration services, web and application servers, observability, and secure connectivity. The engineer will improve stability, lead complex troubleshooting, reduce risk, and keep production platforms secure and resilient.
What You'll OwnEngineer and support enterprise middleware, messaging, web, application-server, and monitoring platforms.
Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and troubleshoot platforms across development, test, and production.
Support IBM MQ, ActiveMQ, Tomcat, Apache, NGINX, IIS, .NET middleware, Azure Service Bus, or similar technologies.
Administer observability and network-analysis tools such as Datadog, Net Brain, or LiveNX.
Monitor platform availability, performance, capacity, security, dependencies, and health.
Lead incident triage, service restoration, root-cause analysis, and corrective action.
Resolve connectivity, authentication, SSL/TLS, certificate, messaging, performance, and integration issues.
Improve dashboards, alerts, health checks, standards, runbooks, records, and architecture documentation.
Drive vulnerability remediation, security hardening, upgrades, migrations, and retirement of aging technologies.
Support disaster recovery, resiliency, capacity planning, controlled releases, maintenance, and audits.
Automate repeatable work, coordinate across technical teams, and mentor junior engineers.
Required QualificationsFive or more years in middleware, platform or infrastructure engineering, systems administration, application support, or a related field.
Hands-on experience with enterprise messaging, middleware, web-server, or application-server technologies.
Experience with IBM MQ, ActiveMQ, Tomcat, Apache, NGINX, IIS, .NET middleware, Azure Service Bus, or a comparable platform.
Production-support experience involving incident triage, service recovery, root-cause analysis, patching, and upgrades.
Knowledge of Windows or Linux, TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, ports, firewalls, proxies, and secure connectivity.
Familiarity with SSL/TLS, keystores, certificate chains, vulnerability remediation, and security controls.
Ability to analyze logs, alerts, performance data, and dependencies and communicate findings clearly.
Availability to work on-site Monday-Friday in Phoenix;
Columbus or Dallas candidates will also be considered.
Bachelor degree in computer science, IT, engineering, cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
Strong IBM MQ experience or expertise with another enterprise messaging platform.
Experience with Datadog, Net Brain, LiveNX, Splunk, Dynatrace, App Dynamics, Service Now, or similar tools.
Cloud or hybrid-cloud middleware experience, including Azure and Azure Service Bus.
Experience with PKI, automation, infrastructure as code, high availability, disaster recovery, migrations, or regulated environments.
Success in This RoleBusiness-critical middleware remains stable, observable, secure, and production-ready.
Incidents are diagnosed quickly, service is restored safely, and root causes drive durable fixes.
Patching, upgrades, migrations, and vulnerability work reduce risk with minimal disruption.
Automation, monitoring, documentation, and standards make support efficient and repeatable.
Technical teams receive clear guidance, escalation support, and useful knowledge transfer.
Working RelationshipThis role partners across application development, infrastructure, networking, security, architecture, risk, audit, and operations. It suits a disciplined senior engineer who can move from hands-on troubleshooting to cross-team coordination, technical risk decisions, and mentorship.
