Automation and Release Engineer Role Overview
We are seeking a senior-level Dev Ops and Platform Engineer to join our Enterprise CI/CD team. This role is focused on the administration, governance, and support of our Git Hub Enterprise and Azure Dev Ops platforms. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring these platforms run efficiently, enabling hundreds of application teams to deliver safely and at high speed. This position involves CI/CD enablement, user onboarding, and handling daily operational tasks to improve the overall development experience.
Key Responsibilities- Administer and provide governance for Git Hub and Azure Dev Ops platforms, with a heavier emphasis on Git Hub and Git Hub Actions.
- Manage CI/CD pipelines, repositories, access, and permissions for development teams.
- Provide L2/L3 support for platform administration, including remediating access problems, triaging issues with runners, and managing workflows.
- Enhance and automate current systems to better enable agile development across IT.
- Oversee the health of the CI/CD tools by keeping them current with upgrades and patches.
- Support development teams with the onboarding experience and act as a liaison with vendors.
- Handle a high volume of support tickets and ad hoc activities.
- Implement best practices for and support the usage of Microsoft Co-Pilot for Git Hub, particularly around budget and Fin Ops.
- Utilize scripting with Shell, Python, and Power Shell for automation.
- Experience:
10 years of experience as a senior-level engineer, potentially with a background in development. - At least 1 year of experience in application release automation or code migrations.
- Experience in a medium to large enterprise environment.
- Proven experience providing L2/L3 support and handling a high volume of support tickets.
- Deep technical understanding of administering Git Hub Enterprise (Repositories & Git Hub Actions) and Azure Dev Ops, including permissions, API integrations, and pipeline scripting.
- Experience with automation scripting using Shell, Python, and Power Shell.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipeline administration and maintenance.
- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
- Familiarity with administrating Git Hub Self-Hosted Runners on-prem or in a cloud environment (AWS, Azure).
- Experience with ITSM processes and ticketing tools like Remedy or Service Now.
- Knowledge of Docker and Nexus Sonatype Repository administration.
- Experience with Microsoft Co-Pilot for Git Hub, including best practices for implementation and adoption.
- Familiarity with web services/REST APIs and API integration with a focus on security.
- Experience administering Unix/Linux/Windows environments (install/debug/CLI).
- Knowledge of .NET.
