Senior Print Buyer — U‑Haul
U‑Haul is seeking a Senior Buyer to manage all print buying in our corporate office in Tempe, AZ and to support the Advertising & Marketing department. The Senior Buyer will interview vendors, obtain competitive bids, negotiate on price, quality, service and delivery and award contracts. The position consults with Art Directors and Account Executives on quality control, product deficiency, expedites critical items and advises on lead‑time.
The role also handles day‑to‑day administrative tasks as required by management.
- Execute purchase orders (30%)
- Distribute RFQ’s/RFP’s (25%)
- Expedite material, update and communicate procurement status (25%)
- Participate in supplier development and cost‑reduction activities (10%)
- Reconcile payment errors (5%)
- Travel required:
less than 5%
- 5 years of experience in Supply Chain Management
- College degree or equivalent experience in Art, Advertising & Marketing
- Experience with computerized purchasing systems, ERP and SAP
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Manufacturing or Production buying experience desired
- Ability to read blueprints/drawings
- Basic knowledge of accounting, billing, filing and sample maintenance
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Self‑starter who collaborates across departments of A&M projects
- Physically able to work on photo shoots, move/clean storage areas, hook up trailers, drive large trucks, lift, and carry
- Good driving record
- Team player who works within tight deadlines
- Resourceful and able to address needs quickly
- Excellent organizational, project management and problem‑solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Prior experience in art, advertising or marketing
As a primarily office position, the role still requires a variety of physical movements such as working on photo shoots, moving/cleaning storage areas, handling equipment, hooking up trailers, driving large U‑Haul trucks, lifting, and carrying.
Education and TrainingDegree in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Materials Management, or related fields in Art, Advertising & Marketing. Equivalent work experience may substitute for an academic degree.
