Job Description

The Assistant Director, Career Management, provides operational leadership and supervision for the Undergraduate and Specialized Master's coaching team within the W. P. Carey School of Business Career Services Center. Reporting to the Director of Career Management, this role oversees student-facing coaching services, programming execution, and operational coordination for assigned student populations. The Assistant Director supervises coaching staff and operational support personnel who deliver scalable, high-quality, market-aligned career programming and coaching experiences.

This role works collaboratively with the Associate Directors of International Initiatives and Curriculum, along with the Employer Engagement team, and university stakeholders to support the implementation of career initiatives and student success. While the Assistant Director of Career Management serves as the operational lead for coaching execution and service delivery, the role partners closely with International Initiatives leadership to ensure programming and coaching strategies effectively support both domestic and international student populations.

Salary Range
  • $72,000-$76,700 annually; commensurate with education and experience.
Essential Duties
  • Provide oversight, direction, and leadership for the Program Manager and assigned coaching team's day‑to‑day work to ensure projects, goals, and performance objectives are met.
  • Monitor and track team capacity, workload distribution, and resource allocation to support operational effectiveness and the quality of student services.
  • Establish operational priorities and service‑delivery expectations for the assigned coaching team, including clear expectations for the new‑employee onboarding plan, ongoing checkpoints, and success metrics.
  • Lead the hiring, training, and evaluation of career coaches with the W. P. Carey Career Services leadership team to ensure new employees understand the strategic vision of the Career Services Center and how their role operates as part of that strategy.
  • Guide coaches in developing, implementing, and evaluating effective programs that support students in career development activities and position them for success post‑graduation.
  • Develop staff through identified training in career coaching strategies, including understanding market needs and embedding these in student programming.
  • Support staff prioritization and decision‑making within a collaborative matrixed environment.
  • Support operational consistency across coaching services, student communication, and frontline workflows.
  • Develop staff capabilities related to market‑informed programming, scalable student engagement, and coaching practices.
  • Oversee the operational execution of career programming aligned with departmental priorities and student population needs, ensuring deliverables meet department standards and timelines.
  • Manage and oversee career coaches’ content creation and review processes to ensure all content aligns with key career management strategies and messaging, and reflects our value as talent subject‑matter experts.
  • Collaborate with Curriculum leadership and coaching teams to support implementation of career education initiatives and student‑facing content.
