Customs Brokerage Supervisor
Location:
Tempe, AZ Relocation Assistance Available Pay Range: $70,000 - $90,000 plus Bonus
We are seeking a Customs Brokerage Supervisor to oversee customs clearance operations within a fast-paced international logistics environment. This role is responsible for managing customs clearance activities, ensuring regulatory compliance, leading operational performance, and developing a team of customs professionals.
The Customs Brokerage Supervisor will manage approximately 30 employees with 2 direct reports and will be responsible for hiring, coaching, training, and developing staff while ensuring key performance indicators are met.
What is the Job:- Manage and coordinate customs clearance activities in a customs house brokerage or gateway environment
- Ensure compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing imported and exported products
- Verify tariffs, price conversions, weight, volume, and supporting documentation
- Examine invoices, bills of lading, shipping statements, and customs documentation
- Establish, monitor, and improve customs clearance procedures and service standards
- Ensure policies and procedures are consistently administered
- Drive operational performance and achieve key performance indicator (KPI) targets
- Hire, coach, train, and develop employees
- Assign work, review productivity, and manage performance
- Work with customs officials and internal stakeholders to resolve shipment delays and clearance issues
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 3-5+ years of experience in Customs Brokerage, International Trade, Import/Export Operations, or a related field
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience
- Strong understanding of customs regulations and import/export documentation
- Experience managing employee performance and development
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment
- Licensed Customs Broker (LCB)
- Customs Brokerage leadership experience
- Import/Export compliance expertise
