The Department of Economic Security, Division of Benefits and Medical Eligibility is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Benefits and Eligibility Supervisor for the Tempe Field Office.
This position supervises, plans and coordinates the operations of a program of one or more benefits and eligibility units involved in the determination and issuance of public assistance and/or social service benefits, and is responsible for effective supervision and administration of the divisions eligibility program(s) staff to include staff development and training, succession planning, performance management, and related activities, and works with other managers and staff to evaluate and implement goals, responsibilities, policies and procedures of the division.

- Trains, supervises, and evaluates the performance of assigned staff; assigns and adjusts workloads.
- Interprets and clarifies program policies and procedures for staff and implement regulations or policy changes affecting the day-to-day operation of the unit.
- Assists staff with difficult and complex cases to include providing consultation with employees, handling some cases personally, making decisions on controversial cases, and consulting with senior management on recommended actions.
- Conducts quality control and error management and prevention in eligibility services program(s) to include conducting case reviews, evaluating accuracy, timeliness and productivity utilizing quality and quantity date from program reports, identifies error trends, implements corrective action plans, develops, and conducts related training.
- Compiles and reviews statistical data associated with unit activities from case records, logs, computer files, and other sources and prepare requested reports
- Evaluates staffing needs, participates on hiring panels and makes recommendations for effective us of personnel resources.
- Federal, State, and agency statutes, rules, and regulations applicable to area of assignment.

- Interviewing and assessment techniques.
- Written and verbal communication to explain and interpret Federal and State laws, statutes, rules, regulations, and guidelines applicable to the area of assignment.
