The FAA Welder – Level 2 performs skilled welding, fabrication, and repair work on metal components and other weldable materials in accordance with approved procedures and FAA requirements. This role interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams, and schematics to select the proper welding methods and ensures all work meets structural, safety, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Perform MIG, TIG, and/or arc welding on various metals used in FAA regulated components and assemblies.
- Fabricate, assemble, and repair metal structures using established techniques and equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, technical specifications, and schematics.
- Inspect completed welds to ensure structural soundness and compliance with safety and quality requirements.
- Operate machinery, tools, and welding equipment in accordance with safety procedures and FAA standards.
- Document work performed following internal and FAA regulatory guidelines.
- Follow established work instructions and elevate non‑conformances or issues as required.
- Maintain a clean and safe working area and adhere to all safety regulations.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completion of a welding apprenticeship or formal technical training preferred.
- 2–4 years of welding, fabrication, or related experience required.
- Working knowledge of welding practices, materials, equipment, and shop safety procedures.
- Ability to interpret technical documents including blueprints, diagrams, and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established guidelines and quality standards.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent lifting over 30 lbs.; repetitive lifting of lighter materials required.
- Regular exposure to machinery, heat, chemicals, noise, and other physical risks.
- Required use of PPE including gloves, protective eyewear, welding helmet, and additional safety gear.
- Works under direct or general supervision.
- Typically reports to a supervisor or department manager.
- Worker will report weekly time in TWB.
- Supplier is responsible for registering the worker in Fieldglass (Worker does not require Fieldglass access).
$26.00 per hour
