Responsibilities- Set up and operate lathes, millers, shapers, grinders, planers, and power drills.
- Work from blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions.
- Perform highly diversified machining operations such as boring, turning, facing, reaming, grinding, milling, and tapering.
- Work on machined parts, forgings, and castings of varying complexity.
- Determine and maintain proper operational sequences, performing necessary mathematical calculations to complete jobs.
- Determine appropriate feeds and speeds for all operations.
- Check own work to tolerance ranges of +/- 0.00005 and +/- 0.001 or +/- 0.0005 as required.
- Read and interpret complex blueprints and manufacture parts from layout drawings without use of sketches or verbal instructions.
- Perform bench work including filing, deburring, grinding, lapping, indexing, scraping, and fitting to complete mechanical assemblies from crude sketches, verbal instructions, or work samples.
- Interpret gauges, electro‑limit gauges, and size blocks for quality control.
- Make decisions on fits and tolerances when necessary.
- Perform complex checking and interpret results of own work by setting up and operating instruments such as air gauges and electro‑limit gauges.
- Execute all essential functions and competencies listed above.
- Set up, operate, alter, repair, and plan own work.
- Serve as a quality steward to ensure BEI meets or exceeds customer satisfaction.
- Maintain 6+ years of experience in complex machining operations; CNC programming experience is a plus.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is required; a 2‑year technical degree or apprenticeship certification is preferred.
Location:
Tempe, AZ.
Shift: Shift 3 – Friday to Sunday, 5:30 am – 6:00 pm.
Employment:
Full time.
This is a safety‑sensitive position; impairment while performing job duties could pose a significant risk of harm.
Benchmark will conduct a pre‑employment drug screen, which may include testing for THC, and may conduct reasonable‑suspicion and post‑incident testing in accordance with applicable law.
