Position Description

Reporting to the Supervisor Production, the Machine Operator Lead is responsible for providing the customer with the highest quality product in an efficient and cost‑effective manner. They monitor and operate machinery on the production lines to comply with the established standard operating practices for each customer.

Schedule

Sunday–Tuesday 4:00 pm–4:00 am;
Wednesday 4:00 pm–10:00 pm, with flexibility to work overtime.

Essential Job Functions
  • Adhere to all health and safety policies, procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and wear required personal protective equipment while in the warehouse or production areas.
  • Maintain food quality and food safety as per the standards provided by corporate, customer, and/or governing bodies (e.g., SQF).
  • Acquire in‑depth operational knowledge of the assigned line’s equipment and related ancillary equipment.
  • Adhere to the production schedule and communicate with the Supervisor regarding problems or necessary changes.
  • Monitor production line for defects such as downed bottles/cans, low fills, faulty packaging, damage, and misaligned labels, and identify raw‑material issues affecting quality, efficiency, or waste.
  • Verify finished product and/or cases for proper closures, seams, date and product codes and damaged or out‑of‑specification packaging.
  • Follow standard operating procedures and read both imperial and metric measurements to perform changeovers efficiently and safely.
  • Record all necessary information for production and quality records and maintain accurate downtime reports.
  • Perform end‑of‑shift duties to ensure smooth transition for the incoming shift.
  • Collaborate with all departments to improve quality, increase efficiencies, increase yields and eliminate out‑of‑spec or damaged product, fostering a positive team environment.
  • Possess a practical understanding of SQF and HACCP and address inquiries related to both.
  • Read, comprehend, and follow the production manufacturing schedule, communicate issues or deviations, and respond to inquiries.
  • Maintain machine operation by monitoring downstream and upstream issues, supplying raw materials, and performing minor servicing when needed.
  • Follow all Quality Control and Production line standard operating procedures.
  • Recognize visual and auditory cues to identify production or machine‑related issues.
  • Assist in training new employees.
  • Perform minor machine maintenance as part of daily and weekly preventive maintenance.
Required Skills
  • Experience in a high‑speed beverage production environment, with the ability to independently and efficiently operate and troubleshoot required equipment.
  • Solid understanding of production machinery and forklifts, including awareness of technical issues.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure.
  • Forklift certification may be required.

Education and Experience
  • High School Certificate or equivalent (GED).
  • 3–5 years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment.
Working Conditions
  • Work Schedule:

    weekdays, weekends, afternoon, evenings, overnight, and holidays may be required. Overtime scheduled as needed.
