Tool Designer/Machinist - Aerospace Manufacturing

Full Time Tempe, AZ, US

5 days ago Requisition

Join our aerospace manufacturing team and take ownership of tooling from concept to production. We’re looking for a Tool Designer / Machinist who can design, machine, and refine custom tooling, fixtures, and dies to support precision manufacturing in a regulated (AS9100) environment.

If you enjoy combining CAD design with hands‑on machining, this role offers direct impact on production performance and product quality.

What You’ll Do

  • Design tooling, fixtures, and dies using CAD (Solid Works, Key Creator, or similar)
  • Create drawings, layouts, and technical documentation for manufacturing
  • Collaborate with engineering and production to solve manufacturability challenges
  • Improve tooling to increase efficiency, accuracy, and cost savings
  • Apply GD&T, tolerance stack‑ups, and precision calculations
  • Build, modify, and repair tooling using manual/CNC mills, lathes, and grinders
  • Perform tool assembly, fit‑up, and validation for production readiness
  • Maintain traceability and compliance with aerospace standards

What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years in tool design, tool & die, or machining
  • 2+ years of CAD experience (Solid Works, Key Creator, Kubotek, etc.)
  • Experience with aerospace tooling (fixtures, dies, tube assemblies preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T and tight‑tolerance machining
  • Hands‑on ability to fabricate, modify, and troubleshoot tooling
  • Experience in AS9100 or regulated manufacturing environments (preferred)
  • Detail‑oriented, problem‑solver with a production‑first mindset

Why Work Here:

  • Work on precision aerospace components
  • Own projects from design → build → validation
  • Collaborative, skilled team environment
  • Clean, professional shop environment
  • Paid sick time and paid vacation
  • 401k
