Master Craftsperson – GAC Savannah

Requires highly skilled structural work and/or repairs. Proven experience in production, manufacturing, or service center operations. Must be able to function independently in a team-oriented environment. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

• High school diploma or GED; or equivalent.
• 10+ years of extensive experience in production, manufacturing, or service center operations.

Technical expert performing repairs on installations requiring high accuracy and timeliness. Operates independently within a team environment.

• Perform technical functions for manufacturing, sequencing of operations, and assemblies and installations, including detail components.
• Troubleshoot tooling, production, assembly, aircraft systems, operations, composites to determine causation and pursue preventative actions, improving production efficiency and product quality.
• Assist in problem solving to establish or correct planning methods for producing parts and use tooling efficiently, utilizing standard techniques, procedures and criteria.
• Interact with Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality Control to troubleshoot problems and implement solutions.
• Organize, develop, and administer the Employee Skills Development Program with assistance from the Training Department.
• Identify and develop training requirements for tooling, test equipment and other areas.
• Support Lean activities.
• Perform tasks assigned to department mechanics or leads when required.
• Comply with standard operating procedures.
• Complete all required paperwork and documentation, including CMP cards, travelers, and R&I log.
• Comply with all safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies; use personal protective equipment; protect aircraft interior.
• Assist in development and implementation of related initiatives.
• Assist in training subordinates in proper techniques, processes, and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Thorough knowledge of manufacturing procedures, specifications, plant safety, tooling, and quality requirements.
• Familiarity with CATIA V5 and Solumina software.
• Established track record of troubleshooting manufacturing or installation processes.
• Proficient knowledge of machinery and processes required (lathe, mill, surface grinder, contour roller, cold working tools, general sheet metal tools, UV curable coatings, sanding equipment, table saw, drill press, router, chop saw, time saver, jointer, planner, band saw, edge banding sander, disk sanders, resaw foam saws, pin saw, general upholstery tools, sergers, sewing machine, toning, stripping, touch-up, spraying, buffing, staining, painting, paint color matching, etc.).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Leadership skills with ability to communicate and impart knowledge to others.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Availability to work any shift.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
