Position: Batching Blending Technician- Front End Days

Position Description

Reporting to the department manager, the Batching/Blending Technician is responsible for handling ingredients, maintaining filters, and preparing product for bottling by mixing ingredients according to Refresco quality procedures and SAP. The technician supplies the production line with the blended product in a timely manner and helps attain maximum product recovery.

Shift Information

Sunday‑Tuesday 4:00 am – 4:00 pm;
Wednesday 4:00 am – 10:00 am

Essential Job Functions
  • Adhere to all health and safety policies/procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) while in warehouse or production areas.
  • Ensure compliance with food quality and food safety standards (e.g., SQF) and other regulations such as FDA, state/city rules, GMP, HACCP, Allergen, Kosher, etc.
  • Receive training and certification in all batching/blending equipment.
  • Maintain product quality and integrity on the lines based on specifications to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Transport required ingredients and pre‑weighs by forklift to and from required areas.
  • Verify ingredients against SAP, food safety, food quality, and inventory control parameters before batching.
  • Program bulk ingredient delivery system.
  • Follow batching/blending sheets, add proper ingredients, and record amounts accurately.
  • Obtain blend tank samples and send to the quality laboratory; implement adjustments from quality department as needed.
  • Complete all required documentation for batching/blending operation and forward to QA/Blending department for review.
  • Maintain sanitation and cleaning of the area throughout the shift.
  • Perform CIP/COP sanitation of all batching/blending lines, tanks, and equipment as scheduled.
  • Remove empty barrels and bins from the batching/blending area to designated storage or trailers.
  • Receive and unload tankers of bulk concentrates as needed.
  • Report all non‑compliance, product protection, food safety, and personal safety issues to management when encountered.
Required Skills
  • Experience in a high‑speed beverage production environment preferred.
  • Formal training in SAP, HACCP, GMP, Hygiene, etc. preferred.
  • Ability to routinely lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform duties in a high‑stress/pressure environment.
  • Strong mathematical skills (measurements, formulas).
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written (English).
  • Solid comprehension of production schedules and laboratory testing.
  • Understanding of quality improvement: increase efficiencies, improve yields, eliminate out‑of‑spec or damaged product.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Obtain and maintain forklift certification.
Competencies
  • Problem‑solving skills: quickly identify and resolve operational issues.
  • Technology: basic computer skills for operating production software and logging data.
  • Cognitive: analyze data and process parameters to optimize production.
  • Safety and risk management: participate in safety audits and inspections.
Education and Experience
  • High school certification.
  • 1–2 years relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Working Conditions
  • Work schedule:

    weekdays, weekends, afternoon, evenings, overnight and holidays may be required; overtime scheduled as needed.
  • Work environment: fast‑paced production plant with numerous moving parts; noise requires hearing protection; temperatures may vary from very hot to relatively cold; laboratory and staging areas are temperature controlled.

  • 0% travel anticipated.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as required.
  • Lifting 50 lbs. (minimum 5 lbs.)
  • Carry weight, lift.
  • Walking.
  • Operating forklift.
  • Climb stairs or ladders; maintain balance.
  • Hand‑eye coordination and manual dexterity for precise equipment control.
  • Use of one or two senses at a time with moderate attention.
