Position Description

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Machine Operator is responsible for providing the customer with the highest quality product in an efficient and cost‑effective manner. The Machine Operator monitors and operates machinery on the production lines to comply with established standard operating practices for each customer.

Schedule

Wednesday 10:00 pm–4:00 am, Thursday–Saturday 4:00 pm–4:00 am with flexibility to work overtime.

Essential Job Functions
  • Adhere to all health and safety policies/procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) while in the warehouse or production areas.
  • Maintain food quality and safety as per the standards provided by corporate, customer, and governing bodies (e.g., SQF).
  • Read, understand, and adhere to a production manufacturing schedule and communicate issues or deviations with the appropriate parties.
  • Maintain production flow on machinery by monitoring downstream and upstream issues, supplying raw materials, and performing minor servicing when needed.
  • Follow all Quality Assurance and Production line standard operating procedures.
  • Perform equipment changeovers; read imperial and metric measurements.
  • Record all necessary information for production and quality records; keep accurate downtime reports and documentation.
  • Perform equipment and general sanitation in the work area or as assigned by leadership.
  • Work closely with all departments to improve quality, increase efficiencies, and reduce waste.
  • Use visual and auditory cues to identify production or machine‑related issues.
  • Perform minor machine maintenance.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by leadership, including cross‑training, general and plant sanitation, inventory management, training, etc.
Required Skills
  • Experience in a high‑speed beverage production environment; beverage production experience preferred.
  • Understanding of production machinery/forklifts and awareness of technical issues.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure.
  • Adept in basic mathematical abilities.
  • Skill in understanding and interpreting gauges, thermometers, and weight measurements.
  • Formal training in WHMIS, HACCP, Hygiene, etc. preferred.
  • Forklift certification may be required.

  • Problem‑solving: troubleshoot machinery and production issues efficiently, collaborating to resolve complex problems.
  • Teamwork: collaborate with coworkers to achieve production targets and support the team.
  • Documentation: accurately record production data and maintain organized records.
  • Safety awareness: knowledge of safety protocols and adherence to safety regulations; timely completion of required monthly training.
  • Communication: effective verbal and written communication with team members and supervisors; report issues accurately and collaborate to ensure smooth workflow.
Education and Experience
  • High School certification or equivalent.
  • 1–3 years relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Working Conditions
  • Work schedule may include weekdays, weekends, afternoons, evenings, overnight, and holidays; overtime may be scheduled as needed.
  • Operating in a fast‑paced production plant with moving parts; noise levels require hearing protection; temperatures can be very hot or relatively cold.
Travel Requirements
  • 0% travel anticipated.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl frequently.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs (minimum 15 lbs) frequently.
  • Carry weight, lift, walk, push/pull, drive forklift, climb stairs/ladders, or balance frequently.
  • Visual and sensory attention required; excellent hand‑eye coordination and manual dexterity; ability to handle mental stress under deadlines and production quotas.
