Mission Critical Commissioning Manager - Hyperscale General Contractor

I’m working with a leading mission critical contractor delivering major hyperscale data center projects in Arizona.

They are looking for an experienced Commissioning Manager to lead commissioning activities across complex, highly technical data center facilities.

This is an opportunity for someone with strong mission critical experience who understands the full commissioning journey from equipment verification through to Level 5 / Integrated Systems Testing.

You’ll take ownership of commissioning activities across the project, working closely with construction, MEP, controls, design and client teams to ensure systems are fully tested, integrated and ready for operation.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead and manage commissioning activities across major data center projects
• Coordinate commissioning teams, trade partners, vendors and commissioning agents
• Manage commissioning schedules, documentation and testing requirements
• Oversee equipment and system testing through L1–L4
• Lead and coordinate Level 5 / Integrated Systems Testing (IST)
• Develop and execute integrated test scenarios and failure-mode testing
• Coordinate testing across electrical, mechanical, controls, BMS and EPMS systems
• Identify commissioning issues and drive them through to resolution
• Work closely with construction teams to ensure systems are ready for testing
• Interface directly with clients, owners, design teams and third-party commissioning authorities
• Support turnover, operational readiness and final project acceptance

The ideal candidate will understand the progression from:

L1 — Equipment / factory verification

L3 — Equipment functional testing

L4 — System functional performance testing

L5 / IST — Integrated Systems Testing, demonstrating that the critical systems operate together under normal and failure conditions

Strong hands‑on experience with L5 / IST is particularly important.

Candidates should be comfortable testing scenarios involving systems such as:

• Generators
• UPS
• Switchgear
• ATS
• Electrical distribution
• Pumps
• Cooling systems
• BMS / controls
• EPMS
• Life safety systems

• Strong data center / mission critical commissioning experience
• Proven experience managing commissioning on large-scale projects
• L4 and L5 / IST experience
• Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems
• Experience with hyperscale data center environments preferred
• Ability to lead commissioning teams and coordinate multiple stakeholders
• Strong client-facing and communication skills
• Experience managing testing, documentation, schedules and turnover
