Development Officer (Major Gifts)(Specially Funded)
Job Summary:
The Development Officer - Major Gifts is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual donors capable of making significant philanthropic gifts in support of public radio's mission and programming. This role manages a portfolio of current and prospective major donors, building meaningful relationships that encourage giving for annual support, special projects, capital needs, and planned gifts.
- Donor Relationship Management (50%):
Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of current and prospective major donors through personal visits, calls, written communication, and ongoing engagement. - Fundraising Strategy & Solicitation (20%):
Develop individualized giving strategies, prepare proposals, coordinate asks, and secure major gifts in support of operations, programming, special campaigns, and planned giving opportunities. - Prospect Research & Pipeline Development (10%):
Research and qualify new donor prospects, expand the major gifts pipeline, and analyze giving trends to maximize fundraising opportunities. - Collaboration & Leadership Support (10%):
Partner with development staff and volunteers to coordinate donor outreach, events, and strategic fundraising efforts. - Administration & Reporting (10%):
Maintain accurate donor records, track activity in CRM systems, prepare reports, monitor progress toward revenue goals, and ensure timely stewardship follow up.
- Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in marketing, communications or related field and two years of experience assisting with and/or coordinating various fundraising campaigns and activities.
- OR an equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full‑time work experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the job.
- Minimum of three (3) years of successful major gift fundraising, development, sales, or relationship management experience.
- Proven track record of cultivating, soliciting, and closing significant gifts for a nonprofit organization.
- Four (4) years working in a nonprofit organization.
- Two (2) years CRM software experience, preferably Raiser's Edge.
- One (1) year of full‑time relevant MCCCD experience during the previous two (2) years.
Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense. Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations. May require numerous evenings or weekends. May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen. May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs. Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D Driver's License is required.
