Shift details:
Monday–Friday, 4x10 schedule with varied start times. Some weekend shifts required. Call required must be within a 30‑minute callback. Bonus available.
The RN’s practice is guided by the ANA Standard for Professional Nurse and the Code of Ethics. The RN has knowledge of professional nursing principles, practices, concepts, and procedures as applied to the patient population served.
Duties include:
- Recording patients’ medical history and symptoms, performing diagnostic tests, and analyzing results.
- Operating medical equipment and administering treatments and medications.
- Starting, maintaining, and discontinuing intravenous (IV) lines for fluids, medication, and blood products.
- Observing patients, recording observations, and consulting with physicians and other clinicians.
- Teaching patients and families to manage illnesses or injuries, explaining post‑treatment needs and home care, diet, nutrition, and exercise programs.
- Providing direction to licensed practical nurses and nursing aides and delegating appropriately.
- Precepting new hire staff and students, assisting staff to complete competency skills, and continuing education.
- Enhancing knowledge in nursing management and patient care as required.
- Collect health data systematically, prioritize data collection based on patient condition, and involve family.
- Analyze assessment data to determine diagnoses, develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans that are family‑centered, developmentally and culturally appropriate.
- Identify individualized outcomes and implement evidence‑based interventions, including emergency and resuscitative measures per standing orders and policies.
- Document observations, nursing interventions, and therapeutic measures in a retrievable form.
- Evaluate patient progress toward outcomes and adjust care plans to improve effectiveness and cost‑efficiency.
- Maintain current knowledge, evaluate nursing practice quality, and apply ethical principles.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members, patients, and families to deliver comprehensive care.
- Develop and evaluate evidence‑based standards of care, initiate changes in practice, and support research integration.
- Ensure safety, effectiveness, and cost considerations in patient care delivery.
- All Diploma and ADN hires must complete a BSN within 60 months of hire OR have 5 or more years of Registered Nurse experience at time of hire.
- All staff who have direct responsibility for the care of stroke patients should refer to the stroke‑specific education addendum – Prior to start.
- BSN preferred.
- Other >10 months in med‑surg or acute specialty setting required.
- 1 year RN experience for all float positions required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and unit‑specific certification as required by specialty area.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license – State and/or Compact State licensure in Arizona required upon hire.
- National certification for unit‑specific patient population preferred.
