1year of Operating Room Circulating experience.

Responsibilities

RN’s practice guided by the ANA Standard for Professional Nursing and the Code of Ethics. RN has knowledge of professional nursing principles, practices, concepts, and procedures applied to the patient population served. RN records patients’ medical history and symptoms, helps perform diagnostic tests and analyze results, operates medical equipment, administers treatment and medications, and aids patient follow‑up and rehabilitation. RN establishes or contributes to a care plan, including medication administration, IV line care, therapeutic treatments, patient observation, and physician/clinician collaboration.

RN teaches patients and families self‑care skills and home‑care needs. RN directs licensed practical nurses and aides, delegates when appropriate, and precepts new hires and students. RN supports clinical knowledge development and continually improves patient experience and clinical outcomes within a shared governance model.

Essential Functions
  • Collect health data systematically and prioritize based on patient condition, involving the family.
  • Analyze assessment data to determine diagnoses and develop, implement, evaluate, and revise patient plans of care that are family‑centered, age‑appropriate, and culturally relevant.
  • Identify outcome expectations individualized to the patient’s health problems.
  • Implement interventions, including emergency and resuscitative measures, following standing orders and policies.
  • Provide nursing care to meet physical, emotional, spiritual, and social‑cultural needs using a family‑centered approach.
  • Document observations, interventions, therapeutic measures, monitoring data, and other relevant data in a retrievable form.
  • Continuously evaluate the quality and effectiveness of care plans to ensure cost‑effective, high‑quality healthcare.
  • Assess own nursing practice against professional standards, statutes, regulations, and policies.
  • Integrate ethical principles across all practice aspects and enhance knowledge of culture and diversity.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to professional development through coaching and mentoring.
  • Participate in evidence‑based practice initiatives to improve outcomes and incorporate research into care.
  • Consider safety, effectiveness, and cost in planning and delivering patient care.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) – Preferred
  • All Diploma and ADN hires must complete a BSN within 60 months of hire OR have 5 or more years of Registered Nurse experience (direct or indirect RN roles) at the time of hire – Required
  • Associate’s degree or Diploma in Nursing. All staff with direct responsibility for stroke patient care must meet stroke‑specific education requirements – Prior to start – Required
Experience
  • More than 10 months in a med‑surg or acute specialty setting – Required
  • At least 1 year RN experience for all float positions – Required
Licenses and Certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification – Required
  • Registered Nurse (RN) state or compact state licensure in Arizona – Required upon hire
  • National certification for unit‑specific patient population – Preferred
