Position Overview

Minimum 1 year ICU experience required. Sign‑on bonus up to $15,000 available.
ResponsibilitiesThe RN’s practice is guided by the ANA Standard for Professional Nurse and Code of Ethics. The RN records patients’ medical history and symptoms, helps perform diagnostic tests and analyze results, operates medical equipment, administers treatment and medications, and assists with patient follow‑up and rehabilitation. The RN establishes or contributes to care plans that may include medication administration, IV line management, therapies, observation, and collaboration with physicians and other clinicians.
The RN educates patients and families on illness management, post‑treatment care, diet, exercise, and medication self‑administration. The RN directs LPNs and nursing aides, delegates tasks appropriately, supports clinical knowledge advancement, precepts new hire staff and students, and continually enhances patient experience, outcomes, and a healthy work environment. Nursing practice is theory‑based, evidence‑based, and utilizes a Shared Governance model for decision‑making.
Patient Care
All RN staff with direct responsibility for the care of stroke patients must have knowledge of:
- Stroke symptoms and warning signs
- Protocols and pathways for identification, evaluation, and management of stroke patients
- NIHSS
- Stroke Alert activation and protocol
- Stroke quality indicators
- Available stroke patient education materials and community resources
- Educational requirements
- Stroke Center website resources
Possess systematic health data collection knowledge, prioritize data gathering, involve families, analyze assessment data, develop and evaluate nursing diagnoses, implement interventions, conduct treatments and emergency measures, provide family‑centered care, evaluate progress, document observations and interventions, evaluate practice relative to professional standards, integrate ethical principles, enhance cultural diversity knowledge, collaborate with peers and multidisciplinary teams, develop and evaluate evidence‑based standards of care, support research integration, and consider safety, effectiveness, and cost in planning and delivery of care.
EducationalRequirements
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) – Preferred
- Diploma or ADN hires must complete a BSN within 60 months of hire or have 5+ years RN experience (direct or indirect) at time of hire – Required
- Associate’s degree or Diploma in Nursing – Required
- 10 months med‑surg or acute specialty setting – Required
- 1 year RN experience for all float positions – Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification – Required
- Registered Nurse (RN) State or Compact State licensure in Arizona – Required
- National certification for unit specific patient population – Preferred
