HSE Training & Instructional Design Specialist Company Overview

At AIS we have the opportunity to support a diverse set of companies and their unique services. We are unified by purpose to deliver safe, reliable solutions to our clients' unique challenges. And committed to providing superior service and leaving things better than we found them.

Job Summary

The HSE Training & Instructional Design Specialist develops practical, engaging Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) training for employees working across ASRC Industrial (AIS) and its operating companies.

This role requires direct industry experience in the construction, heavy civil, industrial contracting, environmental services, or closely related field. We are specifically seeking an experienced HSE professional who understands how work is performed in the field and can translate that experience into effective training. This is not a traditional corporate instructional design role.

The successful candidate will understand the hazards, equipment, work practices, regulatory requirements, and operational realities associated with construction and industrial field environments. They will partner with HSE leaders, Operations, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to turn technical and regulatory information into clear, practical training that employees can understand and apply on the job.

Training may include presentations, videos, photographs, demonstrations, hands‑on learning, job aids, and other visual and interactive content.

This is primarily a remote, office‑based position and is not a site safety role. Occasional travel to operating companies and project locations is expected to observe work activities and capture real‑world photographs, video, and other content to incorporate into training.

Your Impact
  • Develop and maintain practical, engaging HSE training programs for employees working in construction, heavy civil, industrial contracting, environmental services, and related operations.
  • Use your direct industry and field experience to develop training that reflects the actual work employees perform and the hazards they encounter.
  • Translate OSHA, regulatory, technical, and operational requirements into clear, practical training employees can understand and apply.
  • Partner with HSE leaders, Operations, and SMEs to identify training needs and develop appropriate learning solutions.
  • Work directly with HSE and operational SMEs to capture their technical knowledge, field experience, processes, and procedures and translate that information into effective training.
  • Develop training related to HSE fundamentals, regulatory requirements, equipment, work practices, procedures, and operational activities.
  • Create presentations, videos, photographs, demonstrations, job aids, and other learning materials that make technical and safety information understandable and engaging.
  • Travel periodically to operating companies and project locations to observe work activities and capture photographs, video, and other real‑world examples for training development.
  • Manage multiple training requests and development projects across 20+ operating companies, prioritizing work based on regulatory, operational, and business needs.
  • Establish project timelines, manage deliverables, communicate progress, and independently move training projects from concept through completion.
  • Ensure training content accurately reflects applicable HSE requirements, company standards, and actual field operations.
  • Apply adult learning principles and instructional design practices…
