Career Level:
Experienced Non-Manager
Harter Aerospace, an FAA-certified Part 145 repair station and proud subsidiary of HEICO Corporation, is looking for an experienced aviation professional—ideally a seasoned A&P mechanic ready for a smoother, indoor transition—to join our Quality team. This role focuses on documentation review, compliance verification, and final approvals in a clean, climate-controlled office and inspection environment, rather than heavy physical labor.
Why this role fits experienced mechanics: after years in hangars, on the line, or turning wrenches outdoors, this position values expertise with a consistent, seated schedule in a modern facility. You will use your background to ensure airworthiness through detailed reviews, precise inspections, and Return-to-Service certifications—contributing to safety without the physical demands of traditional maintenance.
Company Overview:
Based in Tempe, Arizona, Harter Aerospace specializes in the inspection, testing, repair, and overhaul of commercial aircraft accessories and components (6000+ part numbers). With certifications from FAA, EASA, CAAC, JCAB, and more, we deliver OEM-compatible quality, fast turn-times, and outstanding service in a supportive, team-oriented setting.
- Review customer work orders, maintenance records, and technical documentation (manuals, drawings, service bulletins) for accuracy and regulatory compliance
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of aircraft parts at dedicated stations (using precision tools like calipers, micrometers—no strenuous disassembly)
- Perform incoming, in-process, hidden damage, and final inspections per FAA/EASA standards
- Issue Return-to-Service approvals and certifications based on your aviation expertise
- Document findings, segregate non-conformances, and collaborate with teams to resolve issues efficiently
- Support continuous improvement with practical, real-world insights
Required
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic License strongly preferred (or documented experience qualifying for FAA Repairman's Certificate in inspection/quality roles)
- 3+ years of hands-on aviation maintenance experience (A&P background)
OR 18+ months in aviation quality/inspection - Strong ability to interpret technical manuals, blueprints, drawings, and OEM data
- Must pass DOT drug and alcohol screening
- U.S. citizenship or legal permanent resident status
Preferred
- Experience in an FAA Part 145 repair station (highly valued)
- Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems
- Proven attention to detail, regulatory knowledge, and ability to mentor or guide junior team members
- Fully indoor, modern, climate-controlled facility with desk/workspace setup
- Predictable weekday schedule:
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM - Optional overtime (no mandatory weekends or nights)
- Low-physical-demand environment focused on expertise and precision
- Competitive hourly pay based on experience and A&P credentials, with clear advancement paths in Quality/Compliance
- 401(k) with company matching
- Comprehensive Health, Dental, and Vision insurance
- Health Savings Account (HSA)
- Life insurance
- Generous Paid Time Off (PTO)
