Role Summary

The Quality Assurance Technician for Four Peaks Brewing Company will be accountable for partnering with all staff and manager level positions to execute quality standards. This position works under the supervision of the Quality Manager to conduct day‑to‑day tasks assisting the Quality Department’s efficiency. While being an analytical and laboratory‑centered position, the Quality Lab Technician assists all production staff in problem‑solving matters that are quality related.

Job Responsibilities
  • Collect and perform analytical procedures and testing on raw materials, in‑progress beer, and packaged goods (water, wort, yeast, beer, brewery equipment, and environment).
  • Work in conjunction with brewing and packaging departments to ensure quality from raw materials to finished product.
  • Train and validate employees on quality‑minded procedures, sanitation practices, and testing.
  • Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment as well as accurate recordkeeping.
  • Use, maintain, and calibrate analytical equipment and instrumentation.
  • Develop reporting systems and analyze data and discern new processes and/or corrective actions.
  • Identify critical control points and drive overall process control and improvement.
  • Communicate consistently with brewery personnel and management regarding quality assurance issues.
  • Advocate and promote continuous quality and safety improvement.
  • Execute, update, and provide recommendations for Standard Operating Procedure and policy review.
  • Attend meetings, brewery functions, and perform other lab‑related duties as required.
  • Perform work in a sitting position and more frequently standing, walking, bending, stooping, climbing ladders, and lifting.
  • Use a variety of office machines.
  • Primary work performed in a temperature‑controlled lab environment; sampling and testing in the production area may fluctuate between hot and cold.
Job Qualifications
  • Graduation from an undergraduate college with a Bachelor of Science in biology, chemistry, microbiology, food technology, or related field.
  • 1+ years of experience working in a lab setting (or equivalent education/experience).
  • Previous experience in a QA role in the brewing industry preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of microbiology preferred.
  • Knowledge of aseptic procedures, flavor analysis, and good manufacturing practices required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work within a team‑oriented environment, multi‑task, and maintain a sense of urgency.
  • Capability to make decisions in unexpected circumstances and changes to the schedule.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and apply critical thinking to tasks.
